About the role

Are you an accountant with a background in pensions, HR, and IFRS reporting? AkzoNobel is looking for a dedicated IFRS Expert to join our corporate accounting team in Amsterdam. In this role, you will work on various accounting topics, amongst others related to pensions, share-based payments, HR incentive programs, and finance income and expenses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pensions
    • Collaborate with the Pension Controller to ensure accurate pension accounting every month.
    • Coordinate with the actuary to manage pension data and ensure accurate reporting on pensions.
    • Prepare and deliver annual pension disclosure notes for consolidated reporting.
  • HR Accounting
    • Review share-based payment accounting entries.
    • Monitor accounting for corporate short-term incentive programs and Dutch payroll.
  • Other tasks
    • Review consolidated finance income and expense.
    • Collaborate with the team and the broader Finance community during monthly closings.
    • Work with Treasury and internal stakeholders on insurance adjustments.
    • Participate in (accounting) improvement projects within the department.

Other Technical Skills (tools)

The corporate accounting team uses Hyperion Financial Management, Merlin XL, Workiva W-desk and SAP CFIN. Whatever you do not know about these tools, we’ll teach you on the job. Further, we expect you to be comfortable with MS tools like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

What you bring

  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years of accounting experience, with strong knowledge of IFRS.
  • University-level education in Accounting or equivalent through experience.
  • Experience in pension and HR accounting.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with various departments.
  • Detail-oriented, risk-aware, and able to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Committed to delivering high-quality work with integrity.
  • Fluent in English, to navigate a global playing field.
