About the role

BYD EUROPE BV is currently looking for a Product Development Manager for the BYD Electric Forklift Division in Europe. The Product Development Manager will be responsible for mainly new product development in the material handling sector including but not limited to class 2 and class 3 warehouse equipment and counterbalance forklifts powered by BYD Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries. He/she will be based in Schiedam, the Netherlands and will report to both Business Unit Forklift Director of BYD Europe BV and R&D Director of BYD Forklift Division in HQ China.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead product research and development for BYD Forklift new models for the European market.
• Responsible for the development of non-standard and customized products and features.
• Liaise and coordinate with the product development with R&D from BYD Forklift HQ in China.
• Product support and improvements on the existing models in Europe.

Main duties:

• Define product roadmap for forklifts, warehouse equipment, and AGV.
• New products/models definition and European requirements input into product development, including but not limited to exterior design, interior design, ergonomics, key performance definition, features, etc.
• New product verifications and tests report in local markets.
• Local product development and improvement including but not limited to powertrain design improvements, cabin development, fleet management system, ATEX range expansion, ergonomics, and driving comfort.
• Customer special product request verification and solution.
• Defining hiring needs and budget to lead and grow a team of R&D in Europe to coordinate joint development with the R&D team in HQ.
• Continuous improvements on existing and future products and models.
• Responsible for design changes and ECN process for European models.
• Technical and product support.
• Internal product training and product launching presentation.

Candidate profile:

• More than 5 years’ experience in product design and development related to warehouse equipment.
• Experience in using 3D design software, such as Solidworks.
• Great communication skills and team spirit.
• Education: bachelor degree or above, with major in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and/or automation.
• Profound knowledge of English, Chinese-speaking preferred
