Risk & Control Manager at NN Bank

NN Bank is a rapidly growing part of NN Group offering financial services in savings, banking savings, investments, mortgages, and loans. The Savings, Investments, and Banking Insurance (S&B&BV) chain aims to be the customer's financial companion. Additionally, your critical perspective and expertise in Risk & Control matters will lead to improvements. NN Bank has a challenging position available for a motivated Risk & Control Manager.

What you will do

You will monitor and analyze existing and emerging cross-product risks to which NN Bank is exposed, assessing and evaluating them against NN's stated risk appetite. For example, you will facilitate risk assessments. You will also evaluate and facilitate the follow-up of potential incidents and root cause analysis. Monitoring controls, following up on issues and audit findings are also part of your responsibilities.

Your tasks include:

• Developing and ensuring the introduction and compliance with NN policies within S&B&BV
• Responsible for the correct application of risk policy within S&B&BV, including identifying and advising on necessary business adjustments in case of breach or deviation
• Carrying out risk assessments for the S&B&BV-wide processes using existing models/systems
• Facilitating risk assessments for large multidisciplinary projects or highly complex projects
• Analyzing, identifying, and advising proactively on existing and emerging cross-product risks and dependencies
• Identifying problems in current practices, organizational setup, and processes and making improvement proposals
• Advising on and initiating the implementation of improvements
• Providing relevant stakeholders with updates, schedules, and risk overviews and reporting on the follow-up of the (intended) risk mitigation
• Initiating successful collaboration within the chain, 1st line, 2nd line departments, and other stakeholders

What you bring

• Completed relevant HBO or WO education and at least 3 years of experience in non-financial/operational risk management
• Ability to conduct risk assessments independently and experience identifying risks and control testing
• Structured and planned work approach, with the ability to quickly switch between different topics, distinguish key issues from side issues, and prioritize excellently
• Strong communication skills and social competence
• Bearing and handling difficult conversations confidently, skilled in stakeholder management
• Proficiency in both Dutch and English, both spoken and written

With whom you will work

You will work within the Safe & Reliable Products domain at NN Bank, in the Risk & Control team, which consists of 3 risk managers, 2 business process managers, and a contract manager. Everyone in our diverse team has their own focus area but can partly take over colleagues' work. In this role, you will frequently interact with product owners, project managers, and colleagues from the second line (Non-Financial Risk & Compliance). Naturally, you will navigate through NN Bank, an interesting environment with colleagues from various cultural and professional backgrounds.
