The vacancy: CNC Programmer - Shop Floor Support

GKN Aerospace is seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Programmer / Shop floor Support specialist to join our Manufacturing Engineering team in Papendrecht, Netherlands. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating NC programs for multi-axis milling and mill-turn machines, as well as providing essential shop floor support to CNC machine operators. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient and precise manufacturing of landing gear parts, and you will play a key role in solving machining problems as they arise.

What you'll do

  • Develop / optimize NC programs for multi-axis milling and mill-turn machines using advanced CAM software.
  • Provide hands-on shop floor support to CNC operators, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues on the shop floor to maintain production quality and efficiency.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure that machining processes meet the required specifications and standards.
  • Continuously improve machining processes and contribute to the development of best practices within the department.
  • Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce / eliminate non-conformances.
  • Develop / improve standard operation procedures (SOP).

What you'll bring

  • The ideal incumbent possesses a Bachelor’s in engineering relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Manufacturing Technology). 5 Years’ experience in a hard metal manufacturing and a passion for precision, multi-axis machining.
  • Proficient in using CATIA V5. Experience with TopSolid, Siemens NX CAM, Vericut, CrashGuard, Tooltech and TDM is an advantage.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret Siemens NC code and Heidenhain.
  • Extensive experience with on-machine probing.
  • Proven experience with deep-hole drilling, mill-turning and turning techniques.
  • Solid background in operating and programming CNC machines, with a deep understanding of multi-axis milling and mill-turn operations. Problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of GD&T.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to support production activities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with CNC operators and other team members.
