Ready for a challenge?

Just Eat Takeaway.com is a leading global online delivery platform, and our vision is to empower everyday convenience.

About the role

In this role, you will join the Customer Data Products & Insights (CDPI) team, the group responsible for building the data foundations that power all customer experiences at Just Eat Takeaway. We work collaboratively across CRM, Product, and Marketing to lead with data, deliver trusted insights, and care about the quality and impact of what we build.

As a Data Engineer, you’ll design, build, and optimise the pipelines and models that fuel our Customer Data Platform and downstream activation tools. You’ll work closely with analysts and cross-functional partners to translate business needs into reliable, scalable, and production-ready solutions. This is an opportunity to contribute to strategic initiatives such as Data Ignite and Looker adoption, helping us build a consistent and customer-centric data ecosystem that supports millions of users.

These are some of the key components to the position:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ingestion and transformation pipelines to ensure the CDP remains the trusted source of customer data.
  • Implement strong data quality checks, lineage, and governance using tools such as DataHub and Morpheus to uphold accuracy and reliability.
  • Collaborate with CRM, Product, and engineering partners to integrate new events, attributes, and identifiers into the customer data ecosystem.
  • Build and optimise ELT pipelines using BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, and Datadog, aiming for excellence in performance, stability, and scalability.
  • Apply best practices in documentation, unit testing, and CI/CD to ensure production-ready, high-quality data assets.
  • Partner with the Data Ignite team to develop datasets for activation through Hightouch, supporting CRM, Product, and Media use cases.
  • Ensure Hightouch-ready tables are efficient, secure, and well-monitored, and contribute to troubleshooting and optimisation when needed.
  • Support the migration to Looker by building semantic layers and standardised customer KPIs aligned with global definitions.
  • Work with analysts and engineers to design scalable data models that enable self-serve dashboards and consistent reporting.
  • Contribute to sprint planning, technical prioritisation, and knowledge-sharing to help the team collaborate effectively and deliver together.

What will you bring to the team?

  • Strong SQL and dbt skills, with the ability to design clean, scalable data models that support reliable customer insights.
  • Confident Python abilities for automation, orchestration, and building pipelines that help the team deliver efficiently.
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster, and a desire to optimise workflows for stability and speed.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing, ELT best practices, and governance concepts that ensure trust and accountability.
  • Interest in customer and marketing datasets, with curiosity for how data powers segmentation, activation, and engagement.
  • A sense of ownership and a proactive approach, contributing to the team’s success with a collaborative and positive mindset.
  • Openness to learning Looker semantic modelling and supporting our migration from Tableau to a unified reporting platform.
  • Willingness to explore tools like Hightouch or other activation platforms to understand how data drives real-time experiences.
  • Curiosity for real-time data frameworks such as Pub/Sub, Kafka, or Dataflow, and a desire to build future-ready pipelines.
  • A responsible, growth-oriented working style, eager to learn from others, share knowledge, and help the team aim higher together.
