Aidsfonds - Soa Aids Nederland strives for a world where there are no longer any deaths from AIDS, where people enjoy good sexual health, and a cure is available for all people living with HIV. A world in which everyone can love freely and without fear. For all that is love.

We focus on communities of populations living with or affected by HIV (including LGBTIQ+ people, sex workers, people who use drugs, young people, women and children) in ten countries and two regions worldwide. To join our Children, Youth & Women Team in the International Department, we are looking for a:

Senior Project Officer Paediatric HIV

About the Paediatric HIV Programme

An estimated 43% of children living with HIV (0–14 years) are still not on treatment, many because they remain undiagnosed. Our Paediatric HIV Programme invests in strong community‑based approaches and multi‑level partnerships to ensure all children living with HIV are identified and linked to care.

Your role

You lead and further shape our paediatric HIV work by combining hands‑on project management with strategic vision. You ensure effective programme leadership and delivery, strengthen partnerships, identify advocacy opportunities, and contribute to impactful fundraising efforts.

Key responsibilities

Project leadership

  • Lead planning, coordination and delivery of the paediatric HIV programme, using project-based creation
  • Manage budgets, timelines and compliance with organisational requirements
  • Provide technical assistance to the project team by strengthening design templates, tools, and guidance that enhance clarity and strategic coherence across projects
  • Provide expertise on paediatric HIV

Strategic planning & data use

  • Analyse trends and needs to strengthen our paediatric HIV strategy
  • Lead and support regular reviews of the programme Theory of Change to reflect emerging evidence, contextual changes, and organisational priorities
  • Collaborate with the PMEL Officer to validate assumptions, refine pathways of change, and embed data-driven insights
  • Use data to inform decision-making and enhance programme effectiveness
  • Assess and optimise partnerships and project outcomes

Advocacy

  • Identify and translate paediatric HIV priorities into targeted advocacy initiatives at national and global levels
  • Engage stakeholders to influence policy and resource allocation

Fundraising

  • Identify and participate in fundraising initiatives
  • Co develop fundraising strategies together with our Business Developers
  • Prepare fundraising proposals and maintain donor relations

Partnership & grant management

  • Build and manage partnerships with implementing and strategic partners
  • Manage grants, monitor results, and ensure learning and knowledge exchange.

We offer

An ambitious, inclusive, and diverse organisation in which we work together in an accessible, open, and inspiring atmosphere. We deliver quality based on appealing goals and clear roles. You are welcome as you are, who you love or what you believe. We are curious about your talents and your drive to work with us on our mission. You look at issues from different perspectives and you connect with girls, women and children communities, because you can draw on your own experience, or have become acquainted with these communities.

  • An exciting position in an international team and ambitious organisation
  • An initial one-year employment contract, subject to potential extension
  • This position is based in Amsterdam Sloterdijk (hybrid work from office/home, this is not a remote position and we do not facilitate relocation).
  • A salary in scale 11 that lies between € 3,987 and € 6,073 gross per month (for 36 hours), grading takes place depending on your experience
  • An individual choice budget (IKB) of 16.96% that you can use at your own discretion for money, time or spend fiscally advantageous on products or services
  • 208 hours of leave on a full-time basis (36 hours), and the option to buy extra leave via IKB
  • A NS business card for all public transport for your commute and for to work
  • A personal development budget of €650 per year (for 36 hours).

You bring

  • Strong expertise in paediatric HIV prevention, treatment and policy
  • Experience designing, managing and evaluating grants and evidence‑based programmes
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative partnerships across NGOs, funders, governments and community organisations
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Experience with working data-driven, Theory of Change and MEL frameworks
  • Commitment to systemic, sustainable improvements in paediatric HIV outcomes.

And you are

  • Mission-driven
  • Optimistic, connecting and energetic
  • Not scared away by working in an uncertain and demanding context
  • Inclusive to all communities we work with
  • Fluent in English
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Based in the Netherlands.

Aidsfonds works towards the end of AIDS in a world where all people affected by HIV/AIDS have access to prevention, treatment, care and support. We can only stop the epidemic if we focus on the people and regions most affected. For many years, Aidsfonds has played a pioneering role in focusing the AIDS response on those population groups who are affected the most by the epidemic due to stigma and discrimination. Our generation has the ability to stop one of the largest epidemics in history in its tracks. The time to accelerate, boost and focus the worldwide prevention, detection and treatment of HIV/AIDS is now.
