As a Sales Engineer Food, you are the technical backbone of our Sales team. You work closely with Account Managers, R&D, and Engineering to translate customer requests from the food processing industry into feasible, innovative, and profitable concepts. You combine in-depth technical expertise with commercial insight and, together with the team, determine how we can best support our customers.

The food industry is a new and rapidly growing market for AWL. This means a strong pioneering spirit, intensive customer interaction, and contributing to solutions that often do not yet exist. It is precisely this dynamic that makes your role challenging and versatile: you actively contribute to the positioning and growth of AWL within this sector.

What do we expect?

• At least 5 years of experience within the food processing industry and automation;
• Bachelor’s level of working and thinking, preferably in a technical field;
• The ability to translate customer needs into feasible technical concepts and well-founded business cases;
• Strong communication skills, a proactive and professional attitude, and a team-oriented mindset;
• Good command of the English language, both spoken and written.

Your responsibilities:

• Analyze customer requests and define the technical framework for winning concepts.
• Develop new concepts and advise on technical choices.
• Coordinate the quotation process and document technical specifications, planning, and boundary conditions.
• Visit customers (nationally and internationally) for technical clarification and alignment.
• Handover projects to Project Management and remain the Sales point of contact during execution.

This will be your day

• 8:00 No two days are the same. You start the day by getting an overview: reviewing ongoing quotation projects, assessing new customer requests from the food sector, and, together with the team, determining priorities.
• 10:00 Together with Sales and Engineering, you translate a meat processor’s customer request into an initial concept proposal. You think outside the box and identify potential risks and opportunities.
• 13:00 After the break, you work on the technical substantiation of a quotation, including specifications, planning, and pricing. At the same time, you consult with R&D about innovative robotics and AI possibilities within food handling.
• 15:00 You visit a fresh produce (AGF) manufacturer to analyze their current processes and discuss automation opportunities. You take notes to further develop the concept the next day.
• 16:30 Back at the office, you align the planning of the quotation process and ensure that all technical information is properly handed over.
