Technical Streaming Engineer

As a Technical Streaming Engineer, you’ll be an important part of our Media Team, which includes more than 15 skilled professionals focused on streaming applications for Mobile, Web, and Smart TV development. Our mission is to guarantee a smooth operation of our streaming services across multiple platforms, providing an excellent experience to our clients.

What are you going to do?

In this role, you will take ownership of our streaming stack, serving live and video-on-demand (VOD) to our various clients. Key duties include implementing, updating, and maintaining core streaming software in the cloud and on-premise. To ensure smooth streaming delivery, you will work closely with clients, partners such as Akamai, and internal teams. This is an excellent opportunity to drive media innovation while sharing your expertise through training and collaboration.

Because our services run 24/7, you will also participate in a shared on-call rotation to respond to incidents and ensure continuity outside office hours when needed.

Your day-to-day activities include:

• Manage and maintain streaming servers across multiple data centers in Amsterdam.
• Configuring video/audio streaming solutions, including VOD and live streaming, with or without DVR windows.
• Implementing and optimizing streaming software and hardware.
• Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to encoding, delivery, and playback.
• Collaborating with clients and third parties to ensure smooth integration and delivery.
• Exploring and implementing the latest video streaming technologies, codecs, and DRM systems.
• Participating in a shared on-call rotation to support our streaming services outside office hours when needed.

As a natural communicator, you’re comfortable interacting with clients, partners, and colleagues across all levels.

What do you bring with you?

• Expertise in video streaming technologies—You have a solid understanding of MPEG-Dash, HLS, and Smooth Streaming, which ensures smooth video/audio delivery.
• Hands-on experience with DRM systems – You’re well-versed in systems like FairPlay, Widevine, and PlayReady, securing high-quality content for our clients.
• Familiarity with advanced video codecs—You’re experienced with codecs such as H.264/H.265, VP9, and AV1, which ensures the highest quality and efficiency in streaming.
• Knowledge of hardware decoding—You are familiar with tools like NETINT, Synamedia, and Harmonic, which enable smooth hardware integration and performance optimization.
• Strong understanding of IP protocols—You’re skilled in RTMP and HTTP, which facilitate effective streaming operations.
• Proficiency with Linux systems – You’re comfortable navigating and maintaining Linux environments, ensuring reliable server performance.
• Experience with CDN setups – Preferably with Akamai, you can effectively optimize and manage content delivery networks.
• Strong troubleshooting skills – You excel at diagnosing and solving issues, ensuring uptime and optimal performance for streaming services.
• Passion for DevOps automation – You’re driven to streamline workflows and improve efficiency through automation tools and processes.
• Willingness to participate in a shared on-call rotation to respond to incidents outside office hours.
• Fluency in English.
