Linux Engineer

Would you like to participate in large (cloud) migrations of our international customers? Hypersolid is seeking a Linux Engineer to strengthen our team!

What are you going to do?

As a Linux Engineer, you play a crucial role in our operations. You are genuinely interested in understanding how systems operate and how they are utilized. Your responsibilities include managing server environments for our diverse range of Hypersolid customers, both large and small. This involves setting up new customer environments, enhancing existing ones, and creating scripts to automate server functions.

You work in the Technology Operations department alongside about 40 colleagues. Your daily responsibilities include processing support tickets and resolving malfunctions. It is important to ensure that the platforms we build are as resilient as possible, as they can also experience downtime. Understanding how our platforms work is crucial in providing proper support to our customers. At Hypersolid, we aim to impress our customers with exceptional service. The team manages storage services, and you will also be part of this team. All colleagues take turns covering storage shifts, so you will have a storage shift every six weeks. You also participate in 24/7 on-call services.

Within Hypersolid, we use a varied stack in the field of Linux Engineering:

• RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu
• Apache, Nginx, Caddy, Varnish
• MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Galera/Percona
• Redis, HAProxy, memory cache
• Salt/Ansible/Puppet, Docker

The team

The TechOps (Technology Operations) department includes about 40 engineers and plays a vital role at Hypersolid. In your role, you bring broad knowledge of Linux Engineering. We do not expect you to know everything. In addition to knowledge and affinity in the field of Linux, it is important that you have an affinity with cloud platforms such as Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS. Your colleagues and customers expect you to have a vision and opinion about where the technology is going. You are open to discussion and changes when new ideas are supported, and there is plenty of room to come up with ideas yourself.

The team works well together; fun is important, so many colleagues go to the cinema together, have lunch in the city, or go out together. In addition to social events, personal development is important to us—through courses, visiting trade fairs, and attending technical events in your field of interest—so you can continue to challenge yourself and have space to grow further.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• A few years of experience as a Linux Engineer
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS)
• Experience with configuration and automation
• Experience with security, cluster environments, and containers
• Work from our Alkmaar office, with the option to work from home one day per week
