Internship: Research into safety as a productivity lever

You will participate in research and consultancy projects focused on the economic value of safety and health in the workplace. You will investigate how good working conditions contribute to stable production processes, fewer disruptions, and higher quality.

The exact content of your internship will be determined in consultation, but you can think of:

• Conducting (quantitative) research into the relationship between safety, absenteeism, turnover, production disruptions, and productivity.
• Developing a numerical business case model that quantifies safety as a productivity requirement for a Safety Productivity Scan.
• Performing scenario analyses and sensitivity analyses of the effect of safety interventions on productivity (conservative, expected, ambitious) for an Intervention Effect / "Return on Prevention" Simulator.
• Developing a safety productivity dashboard concept with KPIs that link safety and productivity.
• Literature review (including OSHA, EU-OSHA, TNO, Web of Science) using advanced AI software (e.g., Elicit, ASReview). Writing reports and presenting findings to the team and/or clients.

What we expect from you

• Master’s student (WO), for example in business economics, econometrics, technical business administration, health economics or a similar field.
• Demonstrable interest in topics such as labor productivity, safety, health, and sustainable employability.
• You show initiative, contribute ideas, and actively seek learning experiences and development opportunities.
• You are a good team player, with strong social and communication skills towards people from different disciplines.
• Knowledge of and experience with quantitative data analysis and/or scenario and business case modeling is an advantage.

Security screening requirement

For this internship vacancy it is required that the AIVD issues a security clearance (VGB) after conducting a security screening. Take into account that this process may take about 8 weeks. If you have been abroad for more than 6 consecutive months, or if you do not have the Dutch nationality, it may take longer.
