Are you a teacher in primary, secondary, or special education and looking to deepen your expertise? Your knowledge of classroom practice is essential to NOLAI. We are always looking for teachers who want to contribute one day a week as a Teacher in Residence to help innovate education. Basic knowledge of AI is desirable, but we are happy to offer you a place to grow further.

Do you teach in special, primary, or secondary education? And would you like to combine teaching with one day of working in a scientific environment? Become a Teacher in Residence at NOLAI, the national education lab for AI in primary, secondary, and special education.

On Thursdays, you’ll come to the Radboud University campus in Nijmegen. There, you will work with co-creation managers and researchers to prepare and support projects across the country. As a teacher, you are the link between research and practice. Your role consists of three parts:

Three Key Responsibilities

• Co-creation team: Work closely with our co-creation managers to gather questions about AI from schools and translate them into concrete project proposals. Even after a project starts, you remain involved and play an advisory role for the co-creation manager and project leader.

• Scientific team: Join one of the scientific focus areas—Pedagogy and Didactics, Sustainable Data, Teacher Training and Professional Development, School Innovation, AI Technology, or Ethics. Together with professors, PhD candidates, and postdocs, you will explore opportunities and risks for education from this perspective.

• Communication and knowledge sharing: Collaborate with the staff to actively share knowledge and experiences with teachers across the Netherlands. This could include writing blogs, visiting schools, or speaking at conferences—depending on what suits you best!

Are you the Teacher in Residence we are looking for?

• You can and want to be physically present at NOLAI in Nijmegen on Thursdays.
• You have worked for at least 5 years as a teacher in primary education, secondary education, or special education.
• You know how to translate abstract questions into creative solutions.
• You enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary team.
• You are a connector, with respect for different perspectives and interests.
• You want to contribute to educational innovation.
• You can inspire others with your ideas and actively listen to theirs.
• You have good spoken English skills.
