Within the Data Office, we have a team responsible for building impactful AI solutions. With these AI solutions, we help Non-Life (Schade & Inkomen) to digitize important processes. An example of this is the digitization of our Claims processes. Your main goal is to create AI solutions for operational teams such as Underwriting and Claims together with your colleagues.

What are you going to do

You understand how to help your colleagues from the business translate their wishes into AI solutions, and you take pride in transforming these into robust, production-grade AI solutions. With your solution-oriented and proactive mindset, you design the best AI solution for business problems together with your team, and you realize this using our AI toolkit. We work with colleagues from the business on projects that often span multiple months.

Specifically, you bring AI solutions into production so that your solutions truly create value for our company tomorrow. Researching and applying new technology plays an important role. You use state-of-the-art techniques such as AI as a Service and LLMs, like Cognitive Services and OpenAI. Additionally, you actively contribute to innovation within NN. During our monthly innovation day, you and your colleagues explore which new techniques are applicable to our company.

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop scalable AI applications and components using LLMs and agentic frameworks.
• Design AI components with solid engineering rigor, clean code, proven design patterns, while applying NN’s standards into the codebase.
• Bring AI models to production as APIs and integrate them into the NN landscape.
• Support the team by promoting engineering best practices, conducting code reviews, and maintaining technical documentation.
• Continuously contribute to innovation initiatives and explore new technologies for assetization and reuse.
• Translate business requirements into reusable AI solutions and present them to stakeholders.

We work hybrid at NN. Together with your team, you decide where, how and when you work. The official location of this job is The Hague.

Who you are

You are a versatile engineer with a strong software engineering background, who is results-oriented and enjoys turning business needs into robust software. You are especially motivated to drive the adoption of our AI solutions. Your open attitude and clear communication help you collaborate effectively with stakeholders and teammates. Additionally, you have:

• Proficiency in Python
• Strong grasp of software design and architecture (SOLID, Clean code, design patterns), testing, observability and reliability
• Experience in designing AI solutions or applications using Gen AI (e.g. LLM Workflows, agentic frameworks) based on business requirements is a plus
• Experience with RAG systems, LLMOps (e.g. prompt management, evaluations) is a plus
• Experience building reusable Python libraries/SDKs for other teams: clear interfaces, semantic versioning, and packaging is a plus

Who you will work with

The team you work with on a daily basis consists of a group of AI Engineers/Data Scientists, supported by a team of ML engineers and software engineers who help the team put the work into production, and a program manager who frames our activities. Of course, you work with many colleagues from the business. Together with these colleagues, we work daily with great enthusiasm and dedication to optimize and innovate customer service, processes, and quality, in close collaboration with the operational teams.
