Join TenneT in Shaping the Electricity Grid of Tomorrow

At TenneT, we work every day on the electricity grid of tomorrow. Our goal? A reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy system.

As Technical Project Lead - HVDC Team within the Large Projects Offshore Netherlands team, you play a crucial role in realizing this ambition. Ready to make an impact?

Your Role

As Technical Project Lead, you are responsible for managing all phases of HVDC project execution, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met. You will coordinate between different disciplines and stakeholders, drive process improvements, and lead and develop a dedicated project team to successfully deliver large offshore projects.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Manage all phases of Hitachi’s activities during project execution – ensuring compliance with time, budget, and quality standards.
  • Lead and motivate the HVDC project team – including Sub Projects Leads and technical specialists across design, manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning.
  • Coordinate and manage interfaces between key subdisciplines – such as Platform, Site Management, PMO, and Finance, ensuring smooth collaboration.
  • Deliver high-quality project plans, reports, and decision documents – supporting progress tracking and implementation of steering group decisions.
  • Drive process improvements and standardization – ensuring organizational standards and optimizing synergies across HVDC systems and offshore platforms.

In addition, you will support HVDC/Station team members on contractual, planning, and budget topics, escalate technical issues promptly, align with experts across TenneT’s Offshore departments in the Netherlands and Germany, and foster a culture of collaboration within Offshore and among HVDC suppliers across the 2GW portfolio.

You will be based in Arnhem (Rijnpoort office), working on-site on Mondays, Tuesdays, and occasionally Thursdays. The role requires travel to Borssele Land Station (2 days every 2 weeks) and international travel for contract and engineering meetings (approximately 1 week per month) to locations such as Sweden, India, and Malaysia.

About the Team

You will join the Large Projects Offshore Netherlands team, consisting of 15 to 20 highly skilled professionals (Master’s degree level) who are used to working as a self-steering team. The biggest challenge? Keeping the team aligned, bringing structure, and reporting weekly to the project management team. Collaboration and clear communication are key to success in this dynamic environment.

Your Profile & Background

We are looking for an experienced project manager who brings the right expertise and mindset to make a valuable impact. What do you bring?

  • Proven leadership and people management skills – you inspire, coach, and develop your team while managing and influencing contractors and stakeholders.
  • Extensive project management experience – 10–15 years, including at least 5 years with onshore or offshore HVDC projects valued at €100M+.
  • Strong technical and contractual knowledge – experience with major HVDC suppliers (GE, Siemens, Hitachi) and large FIDIC, DBFM, or EPC contracts.
  • Preferably a Master’s degree and IPMA C certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Dynamic, enthusiastic, and intrinsically motivated, with strong communication skills and no nine-to-five mentality.
  • Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus).
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally as required.
  • Living in the Netherlands or willing to relocate; EU passport or valid work permit required.

What TenneT Offers

TenneT offers you the opportunity to contribute to a sustainable energy future. Together with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders, you will work on innovative solutions that enable the energy transition. At TenneT, you will have the space to develop your talents in an international environment that prioritizes growth. We believe in collaboration, forward-thinking, and innovation. Therefore, we offer:

  • A FUCO contract based on scale 18
  • Monthly salary gross between €4.675 and €10.831 including holiday allowance
  • 30 vacation days per year
  • A solid pension via ABP: TenneT pays 70% of your premium.

All mentioned employment conditions apply to a full-time position unless otherwise stated.

We value a good work-life balance and your personal development. Therefore, we offer flexible solutions such as:

  • Hybrid working, including an internet and home office allowance.
  • Support for your vitality, with a contribution to a sports subscription and health insurance.
  • Development opportunities through TenneT’s training programs to continue expanding your knowledge and skills.
  • Vitality support and development opportunities via the TenneT Academy

You will be based in Arnhem (Rijnpoort office), working on-site on Mondays, Tuesdays, and occasionally Thursdays. The role requires travel to Borssele Land Station (2 days every 2 weeks) and international travel for contract and engineering meetings (approximately 1 week per month) to locations such as Sweden, India, and Malaysia.

We encourage initiative and give you the space to bring new ideas. Together, we ensure that the Netherlands keeps moving forward and is prepared for the energy of tomorrow.
