Join Our Data & Analytics Team – Be Part of Progress

Introduction to the Job

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, build, and technical support of our analytics solutions built primarily on MS Azure and Databricks. You will be part of a team building and supporting ASML’s Data & Analytics services, focused on a specific ASML sector. Additionally, you will be part of one of our DevOps teams, working together in a Scaled Agile (SAFe) environment. We share a mission to deliver business value for our D&E stakeholders, specifically for Wafer Table and Wafer Clamps, using modern data analytics technology.

Role and Responsibilities

Within the Chief Data Office department as a senior data engineer, you’ll be part of a group of best-in-class engineers, organized in Agile teams. Our mission is to translate ASML’s business challenges into Data & Analytics solutions, realized by building Azure pipelines and data connections in Spotfire. ASML is a crucial player in the fast-moving semiconductor industry, which means change is constant. You will work with your team to capture the dynamic refinement of business priorities and translate them into data and analytics user stories. You are looked upon, and rewarded for, being able to constantly switch between business value and technical implementation. Together with your team, you will drive ASML’s ambition by building data pipelines and datasets in Databricks.

  • Align with stakeholders, architects, and team members on design challenges and choices made to address business requirements. Identify dependencies and ensure the team executes according to business needs.
  • Navigate yourself, together with your team, in a complex work environment.
  • Clearly explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, demonstrating strong analytical thinking and problem solving under pressure.
  • Manage expectations across teams.

Education and Experience

  • Experience working on high-tech products and with complex processes.
  • Strong software and/or data engineering background and preferably a Master in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • At least 4 years of experience as a Data engineer or Cloud engineer, preferably in a highly complex environment like ASML.
  • Knowledge of architectural frameworks (e.g. Togaf), modelling tools like Archimate, and 2+ years (hands-on) experience in designing and building both batch and streaming architectures.
  • Data modelling experience on non-business process data domains (e.g. IoT, machine data) and hands-on experience with cloud native services like Databricks, Azure Data Factory.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, Kubernetes/AKS and Docker, Python & PySpark (4+ years), and deep knowledge of spark runtime internals.
  • SQL 4+ years: SQL background, understanding the concepts of OLAP/BI querying patterns, and practical knowledge in creating these solutions.
  • Experience with storage formats such as parquet and delta lake and experience working with Agile Release trains, GIT & API development is desirable.

Skills

Working at the cutting edge of tech, you’ll always have new challenges and new problems to solve – and working together is the only way to do that. You won’t work in a silo. Instead, you’ll be part of a creative, dynamic work environment where you’ll collaborate with supportive colleagues. There is always space for creative and unique points of view. You’ll have the flexibility and trust to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems. To thrive in this job, you’ll need the following skills:

  • Strong communicator with a getting things done mentality.
  • Ability to bring the competence on a higher level and the ability to motivate and lead a team.
  • Flexible, open-minded, and able to work in a challenging, dynamic environment.
  • Conceptual thinker, with the ability to think ahead and share lessons learnt with both technology and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to challenge stakeholders to good data modeling practices.

We're moving technology forward
In fact, we’re probably a part of the electronic device you’re using right now. Our lithography technology is fundamental to mass producing semiconductor chips. With it, the world’s top chipmakers are creating microchips that are more powerful, faster and energy efficient.
