Drive innovation by building secure, scalable data platforms within the Azure and Databricks ecosystem. As a Senior Data Engineer, you collaborate with data scientists and business stakeholders to operationalise AI models and ensure compliance with Rabobank’s standards. You enable advanced analytics and GenAI workflows, integrating diverse data sources for impactful solutions.

Within Wholesale & Rural, we are building an ambitious GenAI agenda that creates real value for clients and our colleagues. Our GenAI team is the engine of this transformation: a multidisciplinary group where data engineers, data scientists, prompt engineers, and business analysts work together to deliver scalable, secure and reliable AI solutions. We run the total lifecycle of GenAI product development, from idea to implementation in our GenAI Impact Lab. The team works closely with the central GenAI Acceleration Office and colleagues around the world.

Examples from practice

• Build and optimise secure, scalable data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and retrieval of structured and unstructured data.
• Enable AI and GenAI workflows by integrating data sources with LLM-based applications and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines.
• Operate within the Azure ecosystem and Databricks environment for experimentation.
• Leverage Azure AI Search, Azure AI Document Intelligence, and other approved services.
• Partner with business teams and governance bodies to align technical solutions with organisational objectives.
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to technical excellence and innovation culture.

• Develop and maintain secure, scalable data pipelines using Python, SQL, and Databricks, ensuring compliance and technical excellence.
• Integrate Azure AI services and vector databases to support advanced analytics and GenAI workflows.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration within the team.

You & your talent

• Master’s or Doctorate in Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
• Minimally 4 years of experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of LLM architectures and agentic frameworks (e.g., multi-agent orchestration, tool-augmented reasoning).
• Certifications in Azure AI Engineer or equivalent.
• Experience in financial services or regulated industries.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, you engage directly with different stakeholders to align technical solutions with their needs.
• To be considered for this position you must be located in the Netherlands.
