Accountant (Maternity cover/ 6 months)

The Accounting & Reporting department is part of our corporate functions that includes finance partners, legal experts, human resources specialists, and more. Our Corporate functions partner closely with business leaders – and with each other – to create and support the strategic roadmap. We currently have an opportunity for a maternity cover for a duration of 6 months.

In This Role

• Responsible for the monthly, quarterly, and annual closure of accounting records for several EMEA region legal entities.
• Calculate, prepare, and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Analyze account balances, investigate unusual items, determine necessary adjustments, and complete reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
• Review financial statements and variance analysis.
• Review and post journal entries. Investigate and resolve any issues identified through research of accounting documents and follow up with others as needed.
• Participate in preparation of ongoing internal and external financial reporting.
• Translate US GAAP to Local GAAP accounting records.
• Align with key stakeholders, such as internal and external auditors, management, financial analysts, and country managers.
• Responsible for Value Added Tax (VAT) accounts reconciliation, VAT submissions in a timely manner, as well as other local reporting such as statistics.
• Responsible for Corporate Income Tax (CIT) accounts reconciliation as well as timely payment of CIT obligations.
• Coordinate with other accounting, finance, and other areas to analyze questions, determine resolution, and provide accounting guidance and assistance as needed (ad-hoc requests and/or projects).
• Post, review, and reconcile cross-border charges and transactions as needed. Provide summaries, supporting documentation, and other information as required. Consult, interpret, and apply accounting policies and procedures involved in cross-border transactions.

What You Will Need to Succeed

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or equivalent with a focus in Accounting.
• At least 3 years’ experience in similar roles, preferably in a multinational company.
• Understanding of applicable accounting rules and regulations (US GAAP preferred).
• Ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
• Tech savvy with strong skills in MS Office (Excel), SAP analytics, and Blackline.
• Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, SAP preferred.
• Intrinsic interest in finance automation and process improvement (e.g., process mining, RPA, and advanced analytics).
• Ambitious with the determination to grow as a finance professional and leader within IDEXX.
