Who we are:

Prysmian is a global cabling solutions provider leading the energy transition and digital transformation. With almost 150 years of experience, over 33,000 employees, 104 plants, and 27 R&D centers in over 50 countries, Prysmian is a public company listed on the Italian Stock Exchange and is at the forefront of innovation in the industry. About the Role:

Prysmian, in partnership with a fast-growing, dynamic start-up, is seeking a Sr. Process Optical Fiber Engineer to join our team of innovators in Eindhoven. Be at the forefront of developing groundbreaking high-capacity optical fibers designed to power the future of AI and cloud computing.

In this role, you will lead the development, implementation, and optimization of next generation optical fiber manufacturing processes on a large scale. You will collaborate closely with our R&D and production teams to ensure manufacturing yield targets and fiber performance are met. You will start with a key role in the development of the processes in Eindhoven and, after the development phase, this role will shift more towards responsibility for production.

Your main tasks:

  • As supervisor in the shift, drive scale up production of new fibers, ensuring they meet performance goals and production yields
  • Implement manufacturing characterization tools, and analyze process data to identify performance trends
  • Implement new processes to improve the optical performance and production yields of advanced fibers
  • Problem solving of manufacturing challenges through a complete understanding of optical, chemical and physical processes involved in fiber production
  • Implement new methods for volume production of next-generation fibers
  • Evaluate and measure glasses, preforms, and fibers using advanced tools
  • Report and share the outcomes and progress of development and manufacturing methods to internal and external audiences, including senior management, customers, and peers
  • Operate and oversee advanced optical fiber production equipment

You are the right fit if you:

  • Have a PhD or Master’s degree in optoelectronics, photonics, fiber optics, materials science, mechanical engineering, physics, or a related field
  • Have expertise in optical fiber technologies, including commercial and advanced fiber
  • Have experience in fiber fabrication and glass processing, in process engineering, and in cleanroom operations
  • Are familiar with fiber characterization tools and techniques for performance evaluation
  • Are innovative, with a strong drive for excellence
  • Have an inventive mind and are eager to solve problems
  • Are detail-oriented, meticulous, able to work in a dynamic environment, and have the ability to work efficiently across multiple tasks
  • Are willing to go to the United States to be trained by professionals in Orlando for a certain period of time
  • Have strong communication skills
  • Are able to start working in a dayshift scheme and are available to move to 2-shifts during or after the summer period when the production is more up and running

What we offer you:

  • A challenging position in an innovative international production environment
  • A permanent contract with 27 vacation days, 13 ADV days, 13th month salary, and additional benefits

If you’re excited about the role and eager to contribute to a collaborative environment with challenging projects which drive impact for a sustainable future, we encourage you to apply!
