Intern - Molecular Biology – Discovery & Technology

Welcome to our team

The D&T department is an essential hub in our organization, focused on early-stage research of vaccine technologies. The team consists of about 40 employees with extensive knowledge and experience in fields such as microbiology, vaccine formulation, immunology, vaccine analysis, cell biology, and virology. The team collaborates closely with other departments within the company to achieve our goals.

Your internship assignment

As an intern, you will be responsible for expressing polysaccharides from pathogenic bacteria in standard laboratory hosts. These polysaccharides are highly immunogenic and promising vaccine candidates, but their classical production requires culturing the pathogen, which presents specific production challenges. Heterologous expression in standard hosts will simplify this process.

Your responsibilities

• DNA cloning, protein and polysaccharide expression
• Chemical and immunological analysis
• Literature research and critical scientific thinking
• Providing a fresh perspective to the department by sharing your opinion

These tasks form the basic package and will often be performed independently after a proper training and learning period. Additional projects and tasks may be assigned based on your own initiative or at the request of the organization.

What is required

• Final year B.Sc or M.Sc student in the field of Life Sciences
• Preferably familiar with vaccines and bacteria
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal
• Available for a period of 6-9 months, 5 days a week
