About us

Damen Financial Services (DFS) aims to support customers to realize their business objectives by offering the most suitable financing solutions for the acquisitions of Damen vessels. Providing financial solutions to customers is a unique sales tool for Damen Shipyards and enhances the sale of Damen vessels. DFS can arrange a diverse range of financial services from sophisticated project finance structures to the more standard Damen supplier credits and leases. This team can arrange loans for small start-up companies buying their first vessel but also for large international organizations, worldwide public institutions and governmental departments requiring assistance for multi-vessel contracts.

The role

As an intern within Damen Financial Services, you are able to dive into different topics that suit your studies. In general, an affinity with financial solutions and an interest in innovative projects is a plus as this is what drives DFS! We have multiple projects at hand to take on and also we would like to be inspired by your own ideas in this field. Please write in your motivational letter which department sparks your interest.

Possible topics or assignments can be in the following departments:

• Working within the Financial department, where regular work consists of accounting and calculating projects
• Working within the Legal department, for all rules and regulations that need to be up-to-date within our systems. This way we can ensure smooth offers towards potential clients
• Working within Operations, providing the right financial solution to customers in a wide variety of our portfolio

Key accountabilities

These could consist of the following, but depending on the department you will have your assignment they differ of course:

• Supporting and carrying out financial analysis and rapports;
• Collaborate on process improvement for the internal systems or external transitions for customers of their technology;
• Supporting with communication and documentation for internal and external stakeholders;
• Contribute to compliance- and risk management activities.

Skills & experience

To be successful as an intern, you possess the following qualities:

• You are enrolled in a Bachelor studies in Finance, Business, Management, Legal or something similar;
• You are proactive, with strong analytical skills;
• Fluent in both Dutch and English language, written and spoken;
• Fulltime availability from February onwards, or earlier if convenient, and able to come to our office in Gorinchem.

• An internship/graduation fee and travel allowance will be paid for the duration of the assignment;

• Mentoring at academic level will be available throughout the internship.

Due to housing issues we cannot accept international students that do not have accommodation in the Netherlands yet.
