Introduction to the job

As a Mendix Platform Engineer, you will work as part of a team of application engineers, focusing on the implementation and maintenance of technical solutions in support of customer needs (both inside and outside of IT). You will execute complex tasks for existing and new solutions, understand the relevant architecture, and assess the impact of performance on the system. Additionally, you will be attuned to the interests and concerns of business stakeholders.

Role and responsibilities

As Mendix Platform Engineer, you’ll support the collection of business requirements using a variety of methods such as interviews, document analysis, and workflow analysis to express requirements clearly and succinctly and connect solution context to business context. You’ll support and contribute to the documentation of "as is" and "to be" processes and describe the changes required to migrate to the "to be" capability to record accurately the change required. As Mendix Platform Engineer you'll:

• Produce multiple concepts and prototypes to design digital products and services
• Engineer new and existing applications by analyzing and identifying areas for modification and improvement, including engineering new routine applications to meet customer requirements
• Deliver defined features, functionality, or outcomes from a designated part of the engineering program, selecting the best available approach within established systems and incorporating best practices
• Design and perform application tests and respond to user emails to monitor, diagnose, and correct issues
• Monitor, identify, and correct defects to maintain fully functioning application software and list potential solutions for issues or requirements
• Produce accurate reports for others by collecting data from a variety of standard sources and putting it into standard formats
• Complete a range of operational tasks per runbook
• Execute guided control measures on Information Security (e.g., encryption), Data Management (build low-complex defined trusted dataset), Business Continuity (e.g., test back-up), and Regulatory Compliancy (e.g., privacy, retention, SOX), and propose solutions to Security Experts about security risks or problems
• Act as a mentor towards more junior colleagues and contribute actively to competence development
• Act as a regional operational business partner, supporting business in efficiently executing their business processes, including supporting them in defining IT improvement
• Provide support to regional key users for incidents and questions, including escalation to IT support partners and vendors if required
• Provide support to global and regional project initiatives, from design review through testing and deployment, including training

Education & experience

To help us tackle the technical challenges we face, you’ll need experience working on high-tech products and with complex processes. As Mendix Platform Engineer, you’ll need:

• A Master’s degree or equivalent thinking and working level with solid experience in IT applications development. You are a professional IT Applications Engineer with a relevant background (e.g., information technology, computer science, or similar)
• Good understanding of theoretical concepts and principles and their context within relevant domains such as SAP/ERP, PLM, Integration/Middleware/Automation, UX design, and/or other IT applications/software development technologies, and the ability to apply them in the relevant area
