About this role:

As a Junior Platform Engineer, you will join the Infrastructure Foundations GCP and Azure (IFGA) team. The Global Base Platform Infrastructure team is responsible for setting up and managing all base infrastructure in our GCP and Azure environment. A key responsibility of the role involves designing and maintaining robust, high-performing and secure infrastructure, all whilst ensuring that appropriate guardrails are in place. These infrastructures are developed to meet the specific requirements and needs of both the organisation and development teams for their respective applications.

Furthermore, the role includes managing projects, networks, access controls, DNS, and many resources deployed in them in a consistent way and with strict usage of Infrastructure as Code (IaC). You will also be collaborating in the definition and implementation of standard practices for provisioning and managing infrastructure across all the clouds managed by the company, including AWS.

These are some of the key components to the position:

• Design and implement cloud infrastructure environments
• Design and implement network environments
• Maintain and further expand our Infrastructure as Code repositories
• Maintain and further expand our GKE clusters
• Design and implement the infrastructure needed to support our data platform
• Take ownership of the work you deliver
• Work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and together with the team
• Participate in on-call rotations

What will you bring to the team?

• A fresh mind with an eagerness to learn new things
• Basic knowledge of GCP, AWS or Azure services
• Experience with configuration management tooling (e.g., Ansible)
• Basic understanding of cloud networking (VPC, subnets, routing)
• Basic understanding of DNS
• Basic understanding of containers and Kubernetes
• Experience with Linux (we use Debian and Ubuntu)
• Understanding of the concept of Identity and Access Management
• Experience with monitoring and logging solutions
• Basic experience with Terraform
• Basic programming skills in bash and python
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal English
• A strong will to automate and a healthy interest in skilling up your scripting knowledge

Nice to have:

• Experience with working in scrum sprints (agile methodology)
• Knowledge of microservice environments
