JOB TITLE: Research Intern – Analysis and Optimisation of Environmental Contributions

DEPARTMENT: Supply Chain

REPORTING TO: Regional Operations Director

LOCATION: De Meern and/or Almere, Netherlands. It’s up to you from which office you prefer to work from and how you split your time.

Duration: Minimum 2 months – 6 month maximum.

Internship Assignment Description:

Graduate / Intern HBO - Process analysis and optimisation of the declaration and recharging process for environmental contributions (Bebat, Recupel, Ecobatterien)

What's 'In-store?' - Objective of the Assignment:

The aim of this internship assignment is to map out and optimize the entire process surrounding the declaration and payment of environmental contributions to official bodies such as Bebat, Recupel, and Ecobatterien. The focus is both on the internal administrative processing within Toshiba, the accurate declaration of these contributions, and the correct and transparent recharging to customers.

Why Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions?

Your Mission - Key responsibilities:

Process Analysis:

  • Investigate how environmental contributions (Bebat, Recupel, Ecobatterien) are currently formally declared and paid to the respective authorities.
  • Map out the legal requirements and deadlines for each organization.

Internal Administration:

  • Analyze how these obligations are currently recorded within Toshiba's administrative tools and systems.
  • Determine which data are required and from which sources they originate (e.g., product catalog, sales invoices, inventory management).

Declaration Process:

  • Describe the entire declaration process: from data collection and processing to submitting the declarations to the authorities.
  • Identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies in the current process and propose improvements.

Recharging to Customers:

  • Investigate how environmental contributions are recharged to Toshiba’s customers.
  • Determine whether these contributions are clearly communicated on quotations, order confirmations, and invoices.
  • Define the legal basis for whether and how these charges may or must be passed on.

Advice and Implementation Proposal:

  • Develop a concrete proposal for optimizing the process, including potential adjustments to the administrative systems.
  • Draft guidelines for correct processing and communication of the contributions to both customers and authorities.

Implementation:

  • After approval of the implementation proposal, apply the basic data for recharging to customers and for declarations to official authorities within Toshiba’s administrative systems.

The Result:

  • A clear report and practical implementation plan that explains the entire process, including recommendations for improvements, risk management, and compliance.
  • This document must serve as a manual for both the financial and administrative departments at Toshiba.
  • After approval of the plan, ensure that the basic data is implemented into Toshiba’s administrative systems.
