Senior Specialist - New Construction Portfolio Specialist (Global Technical Support Office) at Lloyd’s Register

What we’re looking for

  • Contribute day-to-day specialist knowledge within your discipline and/or lead projects providing commercially focused support and/or service delivery to internal and/or external clients.
  • Determine solutions for problems within your discipline where parameters are not well defined and where previous experience does not provide precedent.
  • Manage TSO aspects of Marine New Construction projects and coordinate TSO resources to offer technical support to external and internal clients.

The role

  • Act as design lead for Marine New Construction Projects in line with responsibilities assigned by LR policies.
  • Effectively manage cost, time, and quality of assigned New Construction Projects, in line with contractual requirements (e.g. schedule & milestones, hours actuals vs budget, project manpower, management of variations from baseline and work scope).
  • Lead and support the TSO Project Team during the overall project duration.
  • Build relationships and communicate effectively with external clients.
  • Liaise with Site Team and Site Project Manager to work as one project team to achieve LR KPIs for customer experience, maintain project objectives, and clearance for class.
  • Work with the Technical Discipline team to ensure consistent New Construction TSO service delivery across each Technical Discipline.
  • Interface with CCO organization to coordinate technical sales support, bids/quotations for complex or novel solutions or for key strategically important clients for New Construction Portfolios.
  • Monitor developments in the industry and Lloyd’s Register’s competitive positioning with respect to New Construction Service Portfolio and escalate important market intelligence to senior management.
  • Assess/recommend the time/value of work to be undertaken for an internal/external client within an agreed fee/cost structure.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge, and awareness.
  • Mentor/coach other employees, as appropriate, to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
  • Make recommendations based on internal/external client feedback to assist in service delivery improvement and help build the business.
  • Provide specialist support/advice within a discipline to internal/external clients.
  • Produce deliverables within agreed broad parameters in an appropriate format and take responsibility to review other employees’ work as appropriate.
  • Discuss/present deliverables with internal/external clients up to senior level and suggest alternative solutions where appropriate.
  • Undertake administration as required in line with current processes and procedures.

What you bring

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognized institution within a relevant field such as Naval Architecture, Ship Science, Marine Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Technical/practical experience in the field (minimum 5 years).
  • Ability to use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to apply existing and emerging technology.
  • Ability to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate, and maintain engineering products, processes, systems, and services.
  • Good team player with the ability to take own initiative to meet business and personal objectives.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, with the ability to communicate effectively internally and externally. Any other language capability (e.g. Dutch) would be an advantage.
