Manager Internal Communications at adidas Amsterdam
Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:
The Internal Communication Team positively enhances the company’s reputation with inspiring content derived from the company’s strategy, consistent messaging by developing impactful storylines and communicating them to internal audiences. This Internal Comms Manager role is a member of the Europe/Global Sales Internal Comms team as well as a key member of the Amsterdam Site Leadership Team. The assigned area of responsibility for this role is the adidas Amsterdam headquarters office location, covering the entire workforce.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a business partner and communication consultant to the business within the assigned area of responsibility
- Establish solid relations with key internal business partners
- Ensure cross-functional communication and collaboration with key stakeholders in the assigned area of responsibility
- Understand the business goals of the company and the respective function/brand/location and translate them into a communication plan that supports them while ensuring alignment with the overall global Corporate Communication strategy
- Have ownership of all Amsterdam location communication, including:
- Manage the Amsterdam internal communications mailbox, handling all incoming requests and responses. Creating and sending invites and communication materials for all location events and initiatives. Manage and update the Amsterdam employee distribution lists, in coordination with HR.
- Maintain and update the Amsterdam SharePoint, making sure everything is up to date and easy to find for employees across the location.
- Create and send the AMSTELL newsletter, including planning the topics, writing the stories, and coordinating visuals. Act as the on-site internal reporter, turning global and local updates into stories that matter for our teams. Identify content gaps and create local communication plans to address them.
- Develop materials for any ad hoc communication needs, including crisis comms, new initiatives, office branding, and operational updates.
- Act as the link between global and local communications, making sure everything shared in Amsterdam is relevant, clear, and actionable.
- Significantly enhance and improve communication methods for concepts, stories and messaging for internal key events/activations/campaigns
- Drive employee engagement through storytelling, event coverage, and relevant local content.
- Organise and communicate around global townhall watch parties at the site.
- Organise and create materials and talking points for local townhalls and all AMS employee communication.
- Create on-site content for campaigns and activations – posters, screen visuals, banners, etc.
- Collaborate with local photographers, designers, and creators to bring campaigns and employee stories to life in a visual and authentic way.
- Staying connected with internal communication peers from other markets to share best practices, get inspired and align messaging
- Develop, implement and maintain highly professional content for internal adidas channels in alignment with respective business partners and Corporate Communication Teams (Planning, Creation, Digital)
- Develop, organize and execute concepts, stories and messaging for internal key events/activations/campaigns with Board and Senior Leadership representatives of assigned area
- Support all Amsterdam-facing communication from the site leadership team. Provide specific expertise for assigned functional areas towards team and business partners
- Ensure smooth operation of the day-to-day business taking ownership for related actions

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Business understanding of business topics, processes and structures in an international company
- Ability to maneuver in a consistently changing environment
- Ability to operate cross-functionally with high degree of customer orientation
- Strong Microsoft toolkit /365 skills (Powerpoint, Sharepoint (ALIVE), Viva Engage, Teams etc.)
- Excellent communication expertise, both written and verbal (quality, consistency and accuracy)
- Thorough understanding of internal social media channels
- Very good organizational and event planning skills
- Hands-on, can-do attitude
- Passion for sport
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
- University degree in business studies, marketing, communications or related field
- 3+ years of experience in Communication, in the PR department or other related fields
