What will you do

As a data scientist you will be responsible for:

• Developing LLM applications using the latest technologies for embeddings, retrieval strategies, and prompt engineering;
• Creating RAG systems (chunking, indexing, reranking) with vector stores, ontologies and knowledge graphs;
• Building agentic workflows using established frameworks (e.g., LangChain);
• Designing ETL/ELT for text and documents and build scalable data pipelines for ingestion, preprocessing, and labelling;
• Productionising models behind secure APIs with real-time inference
• Developing quick prototypes to test hypotheses in collaboration with non-technical colleagues;
• Staying up to date with the latest trends and technologies in data science and actively introducing them to the team.
• Encouraging knowledge sharing among the team members and promoting a collaborative work environment;
• Being the primary point of contact for both the team and other stakeholders within the company for overarching topics;
• Acting as the liaison for (external) stakeholders.

Job requirements

What you will bring

• A Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or Econometrics;
• 4+ years of professional experience in applying GenAI and broader machine learning techniques;
• Hands-on experience with Python and established GenAI frameworks/standards (e.g. LangChain, OpenAI API, or similar);
• Solid understanding of GenAI risks (bias, hallucination) and mitigation strategies;
• Hands-on experience with MLOps practices, including model deployment, monitoring, and CI/CD for machine learning pipelines;
• Ability to work independently on code development, taking ownership of tasks and delivering within agreed timelines;
• Confidence to raise concerns early if you foresee blockers or challenges that could impact progress;
• Proven ability to manage projects with expert team members and to provide guidance to juniors in the team;
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English, with the ability to adjust your style to suit different perspectives and seniority levels. Especially, being able to explain complex analytical concepts in non-technical terms to business users.
• Based in the Netherlands

Nice-to-Have

• Experience in implementing knowledge graphs, document understanding (OCR, layout parsing), and rerankers;
• Familiarity with Azure stack: Azure AI Foundry, Container Apps, etc.;
• Familiarity with the financial services sector and regulatory frameworks related to AI ethics, privacy, and data protection;
• Consulting experience.
