About the role

The role forms part of the newly created Essential Home Corporate Finance function, who, as a team, will be challenged with setting up the overall Corporate Finance and Finance Controlling function of the Essential Home business. We are creating an agile, entrepreneurial and results-oriented team with an emphasis on action, accountability, local ownership and care for each other. The team will be a central dynamic team designing, implementing and managing the end-to-end corporate finance function of Essential Home group impacting businesses across Europe, North America and Latam, including:

  • Record to report function of the HQ and Holding company entities
  • Accounting Policies, Standards and Procedures
  • Financial Internal controls framework
  • Group consolidations and Group Audit process
  • External financial and statutory reporting and compliance requirements
  • Oversight for local financial control such as Balance sheet reviews

Over the next two years, the team will be focused on designing and implementing new processes and systems, including group-wide consolidation, a new ERP and reporting platform, policies and control frameworks and a central finance shared service function. Success in this role means bringing fresh, proactive thinking to help standardise, simplify, and optimise our requirements and capabilities, ensuring our future operating model is fit for the dynamic nature of Essential Home.

Within this team, the Corporate Finance Analyst will:

  • Manage the ledgers of the head office entities in collaboration with service providers
  • Support the consolidation process for the company's global operations and provide accurate and timely consolidated financial reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Play a key part in supporting the group external audit process
  • Manage the accounting policies and finance manual of the group, including providing technical accounting/IFRS support to the group’s businesses across North America, Europe and LATAM
  • Play a key role in the development and implementation of financial reporting systems and processes

Your responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting for corporate HQ entities, supported by shared services team, including month-end close, reporting on actuals, planning and forecasting and substantiating balance sheet positions
  • Alongside the wider Group Reporting team, develop the initial financial reporting processes of Essential Home, including the implementation of a consolidation system
  • Support Tax teams with tax filing, analysing, reporting (VAT, CIT, WHT)
  • Collaborate with regional/local finance teams to ensure accurate, complete data for group consolidation
  • Ensure reconciliations between internal systems and external consolidated reporting are complete and accurate
  • Preparation of schedules and other reporting to support the Group Consolidated Financial statements
  • Assist in the group external audit process, be a key contact to the external audit team for the management and coordination of required financial audits. Assist finance teams in the resolution of problems as they arise and development
  • Preparation of accounting memos documenting assumptions and decisions made on non-standard/technical accounting matters in the group
  • Develop and maintain consolidation policies, procedures, and reporting calendars
  • Keep abreast of technical and group developments across the Essential Home markets, assessing the impact and implementing required changes for group financial reporting and consolidations
  • Provide guidance and support to group companies on the adoption and implementation of new accounting standards ensuring compliance with IFRS
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. Tax, Treasury, Commercial Finance, auditors, advisors)
  • Maintain robust internal controls over financial reporting in partnership with the internal controls team
  • Lead and mentor local finance and shared service finance team members involved in the financial reporting process

The experience we're looking for

  • Chartered Accountant qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA or national equivalent)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial reporting, multi-currency group consolidations, or a related field, with a strong background in working with related finance systems
  • Experience in external audit processes at group headquarters level
  • Experience in managing month-end group reporting requirements and timetables
  • Experience in using ERP and financial reporting software (such as SAP, HFM, Hyperion, S4H) is an advantage
  • Previous audit experience at a large audit firm advantageous
  • The business language in Essential Home is English, therefore fluency in English is essential
