Introduction

Our systems contain a vast quantity of electronic components, PCB-boards, and electronic racks, that are required to work seamlessly together to enable top performance in our machines. Our mechanics moves by means of servo technology, and servo amplifiers.

This assignment is about enhancing an existing 3 phase power-amplifier, in a way that it can be easily implemented at our suppliers or used in our lab.

Key here is robust electronics that reliably survives the unpredictable environment when a new (sub)module is tested.

Your assignment

This assignment has the following key elements:

  • Understanding the existing design, enhance it and ensure safety.
  • Design robust interfaces for setpoints, limits and sensor feedback from the amplifier.
  • Layout the board.
  • Verify the design, confirm limits, and test it with various loads.

This is both a challenging and interesting assignment, where you can expand your knowledge on power electronics, safety, and interfaces.

If time allows, an FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis) will be part of the assignment to find the absolute limit of the design, and how it behaves.

The latter is a very valuable learning for future career growth.

This is a bachelor/master internship (to gain work experience) or graduation project for a duration of 5-6 months. The start date is asap and flexible.

Your Profile

To be a good fit for this assignment, you:

  • Have a study background in Electrical Engineering or related.

  • Have affinity with Electronics and FPGA Firmware development.

  • Are innovative, creative and motivated.

Other information

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship;

  • If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).

  • You need to be located in the Netherlands to be perform your internship. In case you’re currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate.
