Engineering internship | Transcoding matlab to python using AI

Introduction

One of the CPD (Calibration Performance & Diagnostics) routines, which are executed in an early phase of the setup of an EUV lens, contains MATLAB code, which shall be converted to python. The internship focuses on migrating a Calibration Routine model from MATLAB to Python, requiring to understand the existing MATLAB code, implement a modular Python version, and ensure functional equivalence through careful verification (including unit testing on the MATLAB implementation).

Your assignment

To successfully complete the assignment,

• It is required to understand the existing MATLAB code,
• Implement a modular Python version,
• Ensure functional equivalence through careful verification (including unit testing on the MATLAB implementation).

Your profile

You are ideally a Master (MSc) student in Computer science, Electrical engineering, Physics, Mechanical engineering or a related (engineering/technical) discipline with some programming experience.

The following skills are essential for a successful internship:

• Python coding skills.
• MATLAB and/or Linux experience is a plus.
• Basic AI tool knowledge: AI tools shall be used for code translation, debugging, and documentation.
• Ability to understand the function of the CPD numerical modeling.
• Basic software engineering, alongside soft skills such as problem-solving, communication, adaptability, and time management.

Other requirements you need to meet

• You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship;
• You need to be located in the Netherlands to be able to perform your internship. In case you’re currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate.
• If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).
