A Day in the Life

You will be working in an international healthcare company and be part of the Record to Report organization. This organization consists of various finance functions and has a growing number of specialists worldwide - including the General Ledger Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) team located in Heerlen, the Netherlands.

The team offers diverse services on general ledger accounting, technical support and financial closing and reporting processes for entities in EMEA and often globally aligns on process improvements. In this role, you will participate in our monthly financial close processes, control, prepare, process and review specific journal entries, prepare financial analyses and reports, work on automation initiatives (including creating PowerBi dashboards) and be part of the team improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Execute on the monthly financial close operations and related transactional activities and review and process revenue journals
  • Work with several financial systems and provide system support (e.g. SAP, Blackline, Onestream, Hyperion, Redwood, Snowflake)
  • Prepare and maintain several PowerBi dashboards and to make sure processes in scope are continuously improved, simplified, standardized, automated, formalized and documented
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and pro-actively follow up on open and/or aged balances
  • Function as a business partner by liaising with both internal and external stakeholders by email, virtual meetings and in person
  • Ensure compliance to US GAAP and support on various continuous improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma DMAIC methodology
  • Provide support to meet our internal and external audit obligations and remediate any risks or issues.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics
  • Team player with hands-on mentality, eager to learn
  • Advanced skills in Excel, PowerBi and/or other data spreadsheet programs, tech/Automation savvy
  • Committed to accuracy, good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced level of English; written and spoken.
