How you can make a difference

As Business Controller Sustainability at Ahold Delhaize, you will provide senior management with insights into Sustainability performance and delivery of key strategic initiatives in this area. In this role you can challenge, drive and support Ahold Delhaize’s retail brands to improve their sustainability performance and drive our Grounded in Goodness strategy, which focuses on healthier people and a healthier planet.

Your new work environment
As Business Controller Sustainability, you’ll provide the Executive Committee, Supervisory Board and other stakeholders with timely, accurate and meaningful insights into Sustainability performance and delivery of key strategic initiatives. You’ll play a critical role in supporting the business to successfully drive transparent and consistent performance management on sustainability related topics. Also, you’ll provide best estimates of the future performance and direction of the Ahold Delhaize business. In this role, you’ll build relationships and connect frequently with the global Health & Sustainability team, regions, and local brands to get insights on results, initiatives and strategy. Furthermore, you’ll create value through building expertise in core global themes, by facilitating as a main point of contact for regional and local finance and sustainability teams.

Key Responsibilities of your role

• Providing detailed insights into quarterly Sustainability results by preparing reports, writing narratives and presenting relevant analyses for internal and external stakeholders;
• Creating value through building expertise and driving performance of Sustainability KPI’s, including facilitating the target setting process;
• Supporting the Sustainability Leadership Team, including the Chief Sustainability Officer, in various projects;
• Be a contact for global, regional and local Sustainability performance leads;
• Review regional and local plans and creating ad hoc reports and analyses based on requests from senior management and the Supervisory Board for specific analyses.
• Driving efficiency by identifying, proposing and driving continuous improvement of financial cycles.

Requirements
We think you’ll be best geared for success if you meet the following requirements:

• A master degree in Business Administration or Economics, where a post Master-degree (RA, RC, RE, RO) is a plus
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably as Business Controller in an international environment
• Strong knowledge of financial and (retail) business processes
• Strong affinity with sustainability related topics and interest in growing your knowledge of the various components and complexities of the field
• Have strong communication and collaboration skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams to help drive internal and external engagement around sustainability
• Fluent language skills in English. Writing and speaking Dutch is a plus, but not required.
