Join TomTom as a Junior Business Accountant
What you’ll do
- Your main area of responsibility will be Accounting, focusing on the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and selective Balance sheet sections of the company, and your tasks are as follows.
- Prepare general ledger entries to ensure completeness and accuracy of the financial results for month-end close with a special focus on Accruals regarding central personnel cost entries, royalty payables, inventory adjustments (if necessary), COGS, and intercompany transactions.
- Ensure deadlines for month-end close and financial reporting requirements are met and all accounting and reporting activities are performed in accordance with the accounting policies of TomTom.
- Manage the month-end close through the SAP Financial Close Cockpit and monitor & action the outstanding activities.
- Analyse and review balance sheet items, mainly open accruals and P&L results.
- Based on the analysis performed, follow-up with any discrepancies with the finance BU controllers and corporate teams.
- Ensure that you are aware of new product specifications and releases so that we can verify and set up the correct master data for accounting purposes.
- Prepare third-party royalty reporting and approve payments on a timely basis.
- Respond to inquiries from third-party licensors and other business personnel on royalty calculations and provide additional information upon request.
- Support the audit fieldwork for internal and external audit and provide proper documentation.
- Participate in ad hoc projects to support management and the project team in various tasks.
What you’ll need
- Bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in Business Administration/Economics, Finance or equivalent with 1-3 years of accounting experience in a medium/large size organization.
- Strong technical accounting skills are necessary for success in this role.
- Experience with inventory accounting is preferred but not necessary.
- Ability to communicate well with internal and external parties.
- Ability to work in a structured way, service oriented, pro-active, self-starter, take ownership and hands-on mentality.
- Intermediate Excel skills are required.
- Experience with and knowledge of ERP accounting software, and all Microsoft Office applications is required. SAP experience preferred.
- Experience working in an international company is beneficial.
- Must be a strong team player and self-starter, hands-on-mentality, highly motivated, and able to work under pressure during peak periods.
- Fluency in English.
