About this position

At TNO, we are constantly seeking ways to improve internal processes and decision-making through data-driven insights. As part of our commitment to operational excellence, we are offering an internship focused on the development of interactive dashboards that support financial transparency and strategic planning. This internship provides a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful internal innovation while gaining hands-on experience in business intelligence tools and data integration. Your position will be hosted by the Energy and Materials Transition unit of TNO, in the division Industry. Therefore you will contribute to improving our internal operations such that we can, as an organization, invest more resources in creating great innovations.

What will be your role?

You will work with and for a team of managers who report to the division Director, and contribute to the development of dashboards that visualize internal financial information. These dashboards will support various stakeholders in understanding key financial metrics and trends. Your work will involve:

• Designing and building dashboards in Excel or Power BI.
• Connecting to internal data streams and transforming data using Power Query.
• Applying DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for advanced calculations and interactivity.
• Exploring the use of other platforms or tools if they offer clear advantages.
• Collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate them into effective visualizations.
• The internship duration is 3 to 4 months.

What we expect from you

• You are currently enrolled in a Dutch university and pursuing a Master’s degree in Business Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, Finance & IT, or a related field.
• You are living in the Netherlands and available to work in Rijswijk.
• You have a basic to intermediate understanding of Power BI, Excel, Power Query, and DAX.
• You are curious, proactive, and capable of working independently and collaboratively.
• Experience with other data visualization or analytics platforms is a plus, especially if you can demonstrate their added value.
