Job Summary

For the Technology & Engineering (T&E) department of GKN/Fokker Landing Gear, we are looking for a Development Engineer for the Engineering Sustaining and Support team. The function concerns a multidisciplinary role for which not only extensive technical knowledge but also organizational skills are required.
As a Development Engineer your most important responsibilities are all activities concerning:

  • Solving issues within the qualified design by root cause analysis and practical problem solving.
  • Reviewing and approving dispositions for non-conforming parts proposed by Production Engineers
  • Defining, elaborating and implementation of changes to existing designs.
  • Developing maintenance, repair and overhaul instructions.

Job Responsibilities

As Development Engineer, you are responsible for:

  • (an assigned part of) the development process within a project.
  • Defining design concepts and solutions within system requirements.
  • Development and check of design definition in (CAD)-drawings, part lists and product specifications.
  • Continuous improvement of the department and of the internal procedures and instructions of your field (Design & Development).
  • Correct technical content of deliverables within your field (Design & Development).
  • Quality and safety within both your own position, department and company.

Job Qualifications

You are pro-active, self-starting and entrepreneurial, have good communication skills and you are a team player. You like to work in a multidisciplinary environment and are familiar with technology development, production engineering, testing and certification. You are willing to learn and are able to arrange things.

  • Bachelor or Master in Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Good analytical skills in combination with a practical attitude.
  • Affinity with complex technical systems like landing or arresting gear.
  • Good analytical skills including experience in the area of Stress & Fatigue.
  • Experienced in writing of technical documentation in English
  • Knowledge of materials and processes, preferably in an aerospace environment.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic (aerospace) components.
  • Experience in working with CAD applications (CATIA).
  • Critical and independent mind set
  • Conscious of quality and applicable processes.
