Internship Opportunity: R&D Nutrition at FrieslandCampina

Nourishing by Nature is the mission of FrieslandCampina. To provide people around the world with the right nutrition is the challenge. Within this internship you will contribute to this mission. During this internship you will perform data-analyses on the SEANUTS II study, a large observational study among 14,000 children in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam between 6 months and 12 years old.

What we ask

• A Master student, preferably in the area of Nutrition, Health or Human/Medical Biology or Biostatistics
• Current student with EU nationality or enrolled at a Dutch educational institute.
• A team player who can easily connect with peers, is motivated, and can work independently
• Good communication skills
• Can write & speak English fluently
• Available from September 2025
• 6 months
• Parttime work is possible, but will extend the internship period
• Specialization in Epidemiology
• Experience with R and/or SPSS
• Preferable experience with analyzing large epidemiological datasets

Are you interested in epidemiological data-analyses? Do you want to work with a large dataset of 14,000 children? Then this internship would suit you.

Dairy is a basic food product, rich in essential nutrients. To ensure nutritional quality of the different dairy (based) products, FrieslandCampina has developed nutritional standards for the amounts of e.g. protein, calcium, sugar, and salt. What would be the nutritional gain if all products would meet the FrieslandCampina nutritional standards? Currently the impact of FrieslandCampina’s nutritional standards on population level is not clear. Aim of this internship is to calculate this impact of FrieslandCampina’s nutritional standard on population level for South East Asian markets, by analyzing the SEANUTS II data.

You will be responsible for:

• Making a research proposal and analyses plan
• Align the research proposal with internal stakeholders
• Preparing the dataset
• Conducting analyses
• A scientific report and internal presentation

You will work in the R&D Nutrition team. This team consists of 30 members, of which a part is based in Wageningen, a part in Singapore, and a part in China. The R&D Nutrition team works together with other Research teams, Product Development teams and Marketing teams to: study health effects and thereby substantiate our products and support communication, and to generate communication towards health care professionals.
