Job Description

What will you do?

We are looking for a motivated, energetic individual to join our team as a Tax Controller. In this role you will ensure timely and comprehensive controls/checks are conducted, maintain and enhance NIBC’s Tax Control Framework, and execute and review various key controls covering all relevant tax instruments. Additionally, you will drive process improvements, automation, and innovation within NIBC’s tax filing processes as well as take part in the composition and/or review of tax (related) filings. Through your involvement, you will help the team to meet its targets and deadlines in a controlled manner and to improve processes and procedures on an ongoing basis.

Your team

As a Tax Controller you will join the Tax team of NIBC’s Accounting, Reporting & Tax department located in The Hague. The Tax team is responsible for safeguarding NIBC’s tax positions, timely and accurate filing of NIBC’s tax returns as well as data reporting towards tax authorities. The Tax team currently consists of two Tax managers and one Tax accountant who collectively bring a mix in experience levels and backgrounds. The Accounting, Reporting & Tax department supports management with timely, reliable, and relevant information to effectively steer the organization. It ensures NIBC is compliant with applicable laws and regulations regarding financial, regulatory and tax reporting.

What do you bring?

  • A bachelor degree in an educational program (e.g. accounting, controlling, tax, etc.) that at least in parts included courses on taxation. A master degree is considered a plus;
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant working experience.
  • An interest in gaining (further) experience in a range of taxes the most important being Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Value Added Tax (VAT) and Wage Tax (WT) and possibly reporting requirements following from the Vooraf Ingevulde Aangifte (VIA), Common Reporting Standards (CRS) and Country By Country Reporting (CBCR) regulations as well as Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA);
  • A proven track record in tax return compilation and filing processes;
  • Experience and/or interest in applying a control framework and execution of tax controls;
  • The drive to (help) further expand and improve NIBC’s Tax Control Framework.

Personality & skills

  • Experience with the application of tax rules & regulations, combined with an ability to identify positions that possibly require further attention and/or the ability to make analyses on tax technical grounds;
  • A ‘control’-mindset;
  • Analytical skills to interpret (financial) data as well as tax laws and regulations;
  • Ability to work with reporting and filing deadlines;
  • Affinity with data analysis and reporting (including tax return) tools / applications;
  • A pragmatical, hands-on mentality;
  • A positive attitude towards change (management);
  • You bring an open and positive mindset to the team;
  • A strong sense of responsibility;
  • You are enthusiastic about continuous learning.
