The role

As the Project Controller at Damen Naval you will take full ownership of financial and risk management for our complex naval shipbuilding projects and tenders. You will be instrumental in ensuring robust financial control and meticulous contract management from inception to completion. This pivotal role demands continuous monitoring of project objectives, the delivery of insightful and accurate financial and qualitative reports, and a steadfast commitment to upholding financial integrity in all your daily project management endeavors within the unique and challenging environment of naval shipbuilding.

Key accountabilities

• Take ownership of end-to-end financial project control for naval shipbuilding projects, encompassing risk, cash flow, cost, forecasting, reporting, and contract management, while proactively monitoring progress.
• Champion and ensure adherence to all compliance rules and regulations.
• Actively promote cost awareness and financial accountability within project teams.
• Closely monitor liquidity factors and keep the project team informed.
• Identify financial challenges and independently propose solutions for improvement.
• Deliver accurate, timely monthly and quarterly financial reports with insightful analysis.
• Collaborate with legal to manage contract deviations and changes effectively.

Skills & experience

• A Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Controlling, Accounting, or a related field, providing a strong foundational understanding of financial principles.
• Proven experience, ideally a minimum of five years, in controlling substantial projects within a technical environment, demonstrating your ability to manage complex financial landscapes.
• A distinct preference for candidates with direct experience in a Project Management setting, including a solid grasp of cash flow management and its critical role in project success.
• Fluency in both Dutch and English (written and verbal) is essential for effective communication within our international environment
• Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
• Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
