We are looking for a skilled Senior System Engineer with a strong focus on Azure to join our Platform team.

The Platform team is responsible for managing customer runtimes - banks - and in that regard, we hold ourselves accountable to the highest professional standards in cloud ops. Resilience, Availability, and Scalability.

What you'll do

  • Design, implement, and manage Azure cloud infrastructure to ensure our customers have access to the best features Azure has to offer;
  • Contribute to System engineering aspects of Backbase AI teams in building and operating Data engineering tools such as Databricks;
  • Guarantee the availability and reliability of the managed hosting service we provide to our customers;
  • Implement and contribute to best practices for cloud security, compliance, and disaster recovery;
  • Ensure that the solution always runs in a compliant, secure and cost-effective way;
  • Participate in our on-call pool and help to ensure maximum reliability, high availability and uptime;
  • Help foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement;
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues, ensuring resilience, availability and scalability;
  • Contribute to increasing operational efficiency and helping to bring overall cloud cost under control.

Who you are

  • You have a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure security, cloud-native technologies, and desired state configuration, preferably using Terraform or OpenTofu;
  • You are proficient with tools and tech like Helm Charts, Kubernetes, Istio;
  • You have prior Hands-on experience with Databricks workspace setup, cluster configuration, and job orchestration;
  • You have Knowledge of Unity Catalog, access control, and cost optimization strategies;
  • You have strong communication skills allowing you to drive initiatives and decisions inside and outside your team;
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in system engineering including at least 3 years of working with Azure cloud services;
  • You combine technical excellence with mentorship skills, and provide your peers with hands-on guidance and collaborative problem-solving;
  • You are focused on automation-first. Not content with anything manual, your goal is to make every process predictable and automated;
  • You have a proven track record of designing and implementing scalable, highly-available cloud infrastructure;
  • Evidence of significant work experience with Azure is a plus;
  • Work experience as software developer is a plus;
  • Networking experience, including VPN configuration, is a plus;
  • Your English communication skills are excellent.
