Internship Electrical Engineering – Cooling and Energy Storage Systems

We are looking for a driven Electrical Engineering intern, who will strengthen our defense & security systems team in Enschede. Demcon defense & security systems focuses on innovative engineering solutions in the Defense industry. This internship will give you the opportunity to work in a rapidly growing company, and to directly leave an impact on the military domain.

• We are looking for candidates that are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• The duration of this internship is 4 to 6 months.
• Starting date: September 1st, 2025.

What are you going to do?

The purpose of this internship is to assist Demcon defense & security systems with research, development and testing of cooling and energy storage systems. You will deal with tens to hundreds of kilowatts, military standards, electro-mechanical component selection and electrical wiring diagrams. It requires knowledge about:

• electric power generation;
• electric power storage;
• power electronics (power supplies, inverters and converters);
• electrical safety;
• electric power calculations and analysis.

You will work closely with electrical and mechanical engineers, who shall guide you through the process, however, it will be expected of you to work independently and plan out your tasks on a daily basis.

What do you bring to the table?

• reading and understanding system requirements;
• reading, drawing and understanding electrical wiring diagrams;
• performing electrical power calculations;
• analytical and critical thinking;
• ability to work with conceptual (systems-level) design;
• to have affinity with simulation tools (MATLAB, Simulink, or others);
• and working with MS Office.
