Description of assignment

At Vanderlande, 14 international Product Management Teams, also known as “Module Teams” work across various domains. These teams apply agile ways of working and follow Product Management standards, but differ in terms of maturity and how well their work aligns with the broader strategic goals of the organization. In this assignment, you will assess where each of these teams stands in terms of agile maturity and Product Management practices, and evaluate the extent to which their activities are aligned with the enterprise strategy.

You will develop a structured assessment tool to evaluate the maturity level of each Module Team. This tool will focus on both agile ways of working and the application of Product Management standards. To build a solid foundation for your assessment, you will collect data through interviews with team members and analyse the insights gathered. Based on your analysis, you will determine the current state of each team and identify potential gaps and areas for improvement. A key focus will be on assessing strategic alignment, highlighting any misalignment or lack of shared goals.

You will present your findings to team leads and organizational leadership, offering concrete recommendations to improve working methods, collaboration, and strategic alignment. Throughout the assignment, you will work closely with international teams, both virtually and possibly on-site. This project requires strong analytical thinking, excellent communication skills, and an interest in agile methodologies and Product Management.

Department description

The Agile Centre of Excellence (ACE) is a small team of transformation managers, trainers and change manager in the Technology organization, part of Innovation & Enabling Technologies (I&ET). We are responsible for the agile transformation that started 4 years back and we are now busy with reinforcing the change, continuously improve the implementation, strengthening the line organization and CoPs as well as driving further transformations in the Enterprise.

The ACE owns the Agile Target Operating Model (ATOM) and is responsible to keep this in line with our Processes we use in our day to day work.

Tasks/responsibilities

• Gain insight into current practices: Explore the ways of working, decision-making processes, and team behaviour within the Module Teams.
• Develop a 'North Star': Define what ideal team maturity and strategic alignment should look like.
• Build an assessment tool: Design an instrument that captures both quantitative and qualitative data on roles, mindset, and collaboration.
• Conduct assessments: Interview team members and gather data on their perceptions and working methods.
• Analyse and advise: Perform a gap analysis, identify strengths and weaknesses, and provide concrete recommendations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders: Involve team members and leadership, present findings, and propose joint improvement actions.

Your profile

• The student possesses analytical skills.
• The student has basic knowledge of agile principles and values.
• Strong communication skills are required.
• The student is proficient in Dutch and English at a minimum.
• Proficiency in using Office applications, such as Excel, is required.
• The student can quickly learn new applications, such as SharePoint and Forms.
• Experience with GPTs and AI tools like ChatGPT or CoPilot is a plus.
• *Mandatory enrolment to a Dutch Education System & resident of The Netherlands.
