Job Description

What will you do?

As our Product Owner, you hold a key role in maximizing the value delivered by the Treasury IT delivery team. You will collaborate closely with the Business Owner of Treasury Operations to turn business demands into strategic roadmaps, detailing initiatives and domain roadmaps as epics, which you will then guide into the team backlog as user stories. As the team's primary advocate, you align business and technology strategies, empowering the team to balance multiple stakeholder needs while consistently evolving solutions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Craft and maintain a product vision and roadmap for both run and change activities, drawing from market insights and IT trends;
  • Manage and prioritize the Team Backlog based on value, and guide epics from the Domain Backlog into the Team Backlog;
  • Ensure the team only works on 'ready' epics, acting as a safeguard;
  • Act as sparring partner for the team ensuring the solutions follow the best practices for Front Arena, the main Treasury system of NIBC;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, such as the Business Owner, Domain Architect, IT Manager, and Transformation Office, valuing all perspectives while setting priorities based on value;
  • Support the Delivery Team in maximizing value delivery through tools and automated solutions, and clearly articulate the items on the Team Backlog;
  • Grasp the critical success factors for NIBC, including the context and dependencies of the product;
  • Actively contribute to the Product Owner Center of Expertise and Agile Center of Expertise;
  • Coordinate release plans with key stakeholders and other teams when dependencies exist, while incorporating team estimations;
  • Regularly engage with stakeholders to refine and validate product progress and future directions, and lead Sprint Review meetings;
  • Ensure transparency of the Team Backlog to the team and stakeholders, keeping them informed about team and product delivery progress;
  • Proactively drive improvements on KPIs, such as engagement, productivity, quality, time to market, and value, to continuously enhance team performance;
  • Conduct non-functional controls on the IT product or service delivered by the team.

Your Challenge

In 2024, we expanded the Agile Way-of-Working (WoW) to include the business side by appointing Business Owners (BO's) who gather all functional needs and demands for their respective business domains. Each IT team now has a dedicated Product Owner and Scrum Master. You will join the Treasury IT delivery team, which is responsible for managing the IT landscape that supports the Treasury domain. Alongside the Scrum Master and the team, you will work to enhance the team’s maturity. Currently, the team is focused on migrating the main Treasury application, Front Arena, to our Azure Cloud landing zone. Following this, the team will participate in the restructuring of the funding process of our Retail mortgages and in optimizing the implementation and fully leveraging the benefits offered by the Azure Cloud environment.

Your team

Step into a pivotal role as the Product Owner for our Treasury IT delivery team at NIBC. This dynamic team is at the heart of managing the IT landscape for our Treasury business domain, where we provide essential Treasury products and expertly manage the bank's liquidity.

As PO you will become part of the broader Corporate Banking IT team. Within the Corporate Banking IT team, the following teams are present: the Asset Based Finance IT team, the Payments IT team and the Treasury IT team. Also working in the Corporate Banking IT team is a IT Service Manager. You will report to the domain IT manager for Corporate Banking & Treasury IT.

What do you bring?

Our ideal candidate is a proactive and collaborative Product Owner with:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or comparably relevant working experience;
  • 5+ years of relevant working experience with Agile of which at least 3+ years as a Product Owner in the Banking industry, or another heavily regulated industry;
  • Preferably experience with and knowledge of Treasury business functions/products and Treasury systems like Front Arena;
  • Preferably experience in IT in a role responsible for run and change/development;
  • Knowledge of IT related banking regulations and relevant IT standards and best practices;
  • High level of initiative, ownership and self-motivation, with the ability work in a team environment;
  • Great communication skills; fluent in English written and verbal. Proficiency in Dutch is an advantage;
  • Knowledge and experience with Agile/Scrum is required;
  • Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO)/Certified Scrum Product Owner;
  • Professional Scrum Product Owner – Advanced (PSPO-A);
  • Knowledge and experience with SAFe is preferred.
