Lead Engineer Frontend

As a Lead Engineer Frontend at Lely, you will head a team of software engineers who are developing and maintaining farm management software and mobile apps. Like any true people manager, you will coach your team in terms of their professional and social skills, liaising closely with every team member to monitor their career path. You will be part of a team of Lead Engineers that focuses on continuously improving software development practices.

Your main responsibilities

Team Management:

• Line manager. Oversee a team of software developers consisting of 7 to 14 engineers.
• Handle hiring, coaching, and career development for team members.

Technical Leadership:

• Be hands-on technically, actively participating in projects.
• Address software requirements, architecture, design, implementation, and testing.
• Manage maintenance of existing software components.
• Tackle technical debt to ensure code quality and efficiency.

Agile Practices:

• Lead teams that work using Agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the team to learn, adapt, and enhance their processes.

What we are looking for

We are looking for an empathetic and trustworthy professional. Someone with a keen awareness of the working environment and with excellent communication skills, who can also lead their team by acting as a role model. You will need to fulfil the following requirements.

• A completed course of study at higher vocational or university level.
• At least two years of managerial experience.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture.
• Hands-on experience with frontend (JavaScript, TypeScript).
• Experienced in working with Agile teams in a cross-functional setup alongside roles such as UX.
• A critical, and constructive attitude to handle the dynamics of an innovative business.
