What are you going to do?

As a Medior Business Technology Consultant at Quatronic, you are responsible for a successful end result of projects. It is your responsibility that the project runs smoothly. For example, if there are any ambiguities about what the customer does and what Quatronic does, you pick this up. This also involves substantive and personal guidance of colleagues.

You usually work with two or three colleagues and a few of the customer's employees on a project, in which you take charge. For example, you kick off the project with a workshop at the client, develop conceptual ideas and advise how best to build a functionality. You discuss this with the customer and, based on your analyses, decide what the technical design and underlying architecture will look like.

This is followed by working this out and building the functionalities. Supervising colleagues is a big part of this, for example when they are busy translating complex business logic into workable software. In addition to the substantive work, you are also busy with project management tasks, such as delivering reports, monitoring the schedule and budget and ensuring good contact with the customer and other stakeholders. You are responsible for ensuring the quality of your project.

Monday till Thursday, we work at or for customers; on Fridays, there is time to work on developing Quatronic or yourself. You could be busy with personal development, knowledge sharing, developing new propositions for customers, organizing events or preparing a sales meeting.

What is required

• Completed master's degree in business and/or technology
• At least 2 years of experience with business consultancy and/or IT consultancy
• Analytical, creative and problem solving
• Entrepreneurial, driven and result-oriented

Practical example

A customer wants an estimate of building a new functionality. How do you go about this?

It is a very specific functionality that you have not built before, so you are going to do some research. You look for documentation and ask colleagues if they might have experience with this. Once you have some basic knowledge on paper, you will get to work on the conceptual design of the functionality. You could make some sketches in PowerPoint or Figma (vector image editor and prototyping tool), which the customer can then “click through” to exactly see how the functionality works.

You also analyze what needs to be done in terms of data structure, screens, logic and links to other systems that the customer works with. You give a time estimate for each task and incorporate it into a proposal document. You ask a colleague to provide feedback on this, after which you send the proposal to the customer for approval.
