Job Summary

Iwell is growing at a rapid rate and so is our software. We proved that we can build and maintain software for hundreds of systems, but we want to grow to thousands of systems all over Europe in the coming years. So, we are looking for a Cloud Platform and/or DevOps Engineer to help us build, maintain and scale our growing (cloud) infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.

We use software that runs on a mixed set of clouds, cloud services and operating systems. Our own software runs not only in the cloud, but also on large battery systems and on on-premises servers. Needless to say we are looking for someone who is comfortable with working with a variety of systems, operating systems and technologies.

You’ll be (one of) the first in a team of Cloud Platform and DevOps engineers with a lot of freedom to shape how iwell grows its infrastructure, handles its SRE and maintains a clear view of our varied software and system landscape. All the while ensuring that our customers can use the cleanest energy possible!

Key Responsibilities

• Design & build hybrid architecture, edge runtimes plus cloud back-ends, on (GCP/Azure), with clear fail-over when sites lose connectivity.
• Automate infrastructure with Terraform or Pulumi or other tools you think work best.
• Help us decide how to run and maintain our software in the cloud and on-prem, advise on and implement services like: Kubernetes/AKS/GKE (or Cloud Run/ECS) in the cloud, and K3s/IoT Edge on devices or others.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines that build, test and ship code to cloud and edge targets; enable over-the-air updates for on-prem devices.
• Implement end-to-end observability—metrics, logs, traces—across devices and cloud APIs; help define SLOs/error budgets and lead incident response.
• Secure the stack: IoT identity, network segmentation, secret management, and automated policy enforcement; contribute to ISO 27001 / SOC-2 compliance.
• Mentor developers on containerisation, deployment patterns, and DevOps best practices

What do you bring

• 5+ years operating production workloads in a major cloud (GCP, Azure, or AWS)
• Proven experience with IAC
• Deep knowledge of containers & orchestration for both cloud (like Docker, Kubernetes / AKS / GKE)
• Knowledge edge containers and orchestration (K3s, Azure IoT Edge) is appreciated.
• Track record of building CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong background in observability & SRE: defining SLOs, building dashboards/alerts, and taking part in on-call rotations.
• Solid grasp of cloud and IoT security fundamentals, device identity, TLS, IAM, vulnerability management, and familiarity with compliance frameworks.
• Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language such as Python, C#, Go, or TypeScript.
• Bonus: certifications (Google Professional Cloud Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, CKA/CKAD) or experience with energy/IoT protocols (MQTT, Modbus, OCPP).
