🌍 About the Role

As Sales Director, you will lead and energize our sales teams across the Benelux (Netherlands & Belgium) and DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), driving revenue growth, customer expansion, and margin improvement. This role is key in aligning commercial strategies and fostering collaboration between our Dutch and German operations. Based in either Nieuwegein or Düsseldorf, you'll bring together regional strengths to create one unified and future-ready sales force.

You’ll be the strategic link between both regions – not just overseeing performance, but actively enabling your teams to thrive and deliver results.

Your Mission

  • Lead with purpose: Drive performance, engagement, and development across the sales teams in Benelux and Germany.
  • Collaborate across borders: Promote strong cross-functional and cross-regional alignment to share best practices and accelerate growth.
  • Fuel organic growth: Expand our footprint through strategic account development and the identification of new opportunities.
  • Champion our customers: Strengthen our customer-centric approach, building lasting relationships with key accounts in the food ingredients sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent the Commercial team in the Management Team (MT) and contribute to strategic decision-making.
  • Lead, motivate, and coach sales teams with hands-on involvement such as joint customer visits.
  • Set ambitious sales targets and performance KPIs, and drive accountability for results.
  • Foster a collaborative, trust-based culture that encourages cross-regional knowledge sharing.
  • Attract, develop, and retain top commercial talent across both regions.
  • Develop and implement effective sales plans aligned with business goals.
  • Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts and pursue new business development.
  • Ensure robust account planning and consistent customer engagement.
  • Champion CRM adoption and data-driven decision-making across the team.
  • Align pricing strategies with market trends and company objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers to exchange market insights, trends, and competitive intelligence.

Success Indicators

  • Growth in Material Margin (MM), revenue and customer portfolio.
  • Increased share of wallet and customer satisfaction.
  • New business development success (volume and value).
  • High-performing and engaged sales teams in both countries.

Experience & Skills

  • University degree (business, science, or related field)
  • 5–10 years in commercial leadership roles, preferably in B2B Food ingredients
  • Successful with transition management
  • Deep knowledge of either Benelux or DACH markets – ideally both
  • Proven success in managing regional sales teams
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch and/or German is a strong plus
  • Confident with CRM and data-driven decision-making
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
