The Postdoc position is part of research of prof. Bernd Rieger and prof. Sjoerd Stallinga, in which we target (super-resolution) microscopy image processing and analysis method development. The position builds on the lab's track-record in the field of computational imaging techniques for super-resolution microscopy and image analysis for biological imaging in general.
The position is part of the Netherlands BioImaging Infrastructure which is a nation‐wide multi‐sited facility that enables breakthrough in cell/life science across experimental models and imaging modalities. The Delft work is placed in the “SMART microscopy innovation node, with biological collaborators at Utrecht University (prof. Lukas Kapitein) and Erasmus Medical Center Rotterdam (prof. Adriaan Houtsmuller and the imaging center team). The PosDoc will interact on a regular basis with these collaborators to define questions, solutions, and automatization of the acquisition, i.e. to make the microscope SMART.
Department of Imaging Physics
Research in the department of Imaging Physics is aimed at developing novel instrumentation and methodology in imaging science and sensing technology. Our research extend existing boundaries in terms of spatial resolution, temporal resolution and information/data throughput. We are pioneers in developing advanced concepts of computational imaging, a marriage between cleverly designed imaging systems and sophisticated post-processing. In everything we do, there is a core of cutting-edge physics and engineering of high-tech instruments, of the use of the most advanced computing techniques, and of a very close link to real-life applications.
We are looking for a PostDoc with a Ph.D. degree from fields related to Computer Science, Physics or Electrical Engineering. Expertise in image processing, experience with numerical simulations/fitting and excellent programming skills are essential. In particular, extended programming experience in C++ is required. Reasonable expertise in Matlab, Python or Java is expected, while experience in with CUDA and parallelization or working with dockers containers would be beneficial. Experience in the application area of microscopy is expected, experience in the fields of fluorescent microscopy, localization microscopy or hardware interfacing (via MicroManager or similar) are beneficial. Prior work in an interdisciplinary environment with (cell)biologists is a pre.
Above all, we are interested in candidates with a passion for making methodological advances in methods for microscopic imaging. This particular position also requires the intent to work interdisciplinary with (cell)biologists and develop together with them imaging solution for smart microscopy. In addition we expect a passion for sharing knowledge through training events and workshops about twice a year.
