Payroll Specialist

As a Payroll Specialist, you are responsible for ensuring that all our internal employees around the world are paid correctly and on time. You ensure that all payroll-related services are delivered in compliance with our Backbase policies and all applicable regulatory requirements for all our locations (Netherlands, UK, USA, Canada, Singapore, etc.). You onboard, support, and provide feedback to Junior Payroll Officers and handle more complex cases.

What you'll do

As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll administration for our employees worldwide. You will collaborate with HR, Finance, and external payroll vendors, handle payroll-related queries, and support the seamless operation of payroll and pension systems.

• Respond promptly to payroll-related stakeholder requests via email, phone, or other channels.
• Ensure payroll policies and procedures are followed in compliance with local regulations.
• Process, review, and validate monthly payroll to maintain accuracy and timeliness.
• Manage and maintain payroll and pension systems (e.g., BeFrank, Nationale Nederlanden, NMBRS) and integrate with BambooHR.
• Address employee inquiries, create pro-forma payslips, and resolve payment issues.
• Support the continuous improvement of payroll processes and internal procedures.

Who you are

You are an experienced payroll professional with a strong understanding of Dutch payroll legislation and international payroll processes. You have an eye for detail, a proactive attitude, and the ability to manage payroll complexities across multiple locations.

• Higher education in HR or equivalent work experience.
• PDL (Praktijk Diploma Loonadministratie) certification.
• 3-5 years of experience in a similar payroll role, including in-house Dutch payroll.
• Strong knowledge of HR/payroll policies, tax filings, and local labor laws.
• Fluent in Dutch and English, with experience managing international payrolls.
• Proficient in payroll and pension systems (e.g., BeFrank, MoorePay, Trinet, NMBRS) and their integration with HR systems like BambooHR.
