Mobile Network Engineer

To reinforce our team, we are looking for a Mobile Network Engineer (GSM, UMTS, LTE). As a member of the Operations team, you will be co-responsible for our mobile core infrastructure. We operate as an MVNO in Germany and the Netherlands, but expanding to additional international markets. You will be based in Spain but working closely with the teams in Germany and the Netherlands.

THE ROLE

In this role, you will have end-to-end responsibilities. This means you will deal with projects and design as well as support-related matters. Examples of tasks and projects you may be involved in include: setting up servers, maintaining German and Dutch mobile core networks (GSM, LTE, 5G NSA, VoLTE, WiFi Calling, etc.), and development projects in close collaboration with our Voice Development team.

Other tasks may include:

• Monitoring, operating, and managing Wireless Core networks, and troubleshooting any issues that arise. You’ll also make sure that knowledge and its continuity are ensured
• Demonstrating a solid understanding of 3GPP mobile network protocols and their interworking
• Tracing mobile core components (including GGSN, PGW, SMSC, HLR/HSS, STP, ePDG, etc.) using tools such as Wireshark, and analyzing network traffic to identify issues and potential areas for optimization

WHO ARE YOU?

• Several years of experience (+4 years) working in mobile network environments
• Operational experience in monitoring, operating, and troubleshooting Wireless Core networks
• Setting up network nodes and servers environments based on Unix
• Good communication skills
• An innovative mindset and hands-on mentality
• Proficiency in English, as you will work in an international team
• Willing to perform on-call duties (rotating with the rest of the colleagues) and night work (either maintenance or troubleshooting)
• Experience in vendor steering is a plus
• Experience in software development is a plus (Python, C++, Java or PHP)
• Experience with Kubernetes and SQL databases is a plus
