Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will also contribute to working on the solution design about how we create the membership experience for millions of people around the world. You are passionate about empowering teams and providing sound technical products. You want to make a difference in the world, and you are relentless even in challenging times.

What makes this role special is that you will be helping to shape the product area from the start. We are ideation on how we want to improve the foundations but need your expertise and energy to be the counterpart of the product and ensure that we realize the vision with scalable, secure and available technology!

Examples of your core responsibilities will be:

  • Believe in taking a pragmatic approach and value simplicity when building new solutions.
  • Are you curious and see failure as an opportunity to learn and push your skills?
  • Comfortable building microservice architecture using modern Object-Oriented Programming language, our current tech stack is primarily Java, Kotlin, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes (GKE), Postgres, Pub Sub, Terraform
  • Able to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient services based on DevOps principles.
  • Familiar with cloud computing platforms – preferably GCP, but other platforms are great too!
  • An understanding of modern observability practices such as distributed tracing, structured logging and metrics.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring & alerting tools like Context, Grafana, Elasticsearch.
  • Have great written and verbal communication skills.

What do we expect you to have:

At least 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong leadership skills, specializing in web development, with an Agile/DevOps mindset, and leading through change.

You are passionate about high-quality software, leading diverse teams, and embracing technology, innovation, and IKEA's culture and values in both independent and collaborative settings.

Can demonstrate extensive knowledge of software engineering practices, industry-standard toolsets, design and architecture concepts, and technology capabilities.

Passionate about developing high-quality code, promoting agile practices, leading / coaching teams, actively acquiring new skills and understanding the integration of technology within IKEA's business.
