Learning and Knowledge Management Internship: Impact Analysis of Knowledge Management Challenges

Introduction

With the launch of the ASML Academy, we have the opportunity to build a learning organization that will serve and develop the company and everyone within it. To do so, we have a fantastic team of people who need to stay ahead of the curve. The re-use factory is in the middle of our production, providing valuable recycled resources back to the service and manufacturing processes. They have a lot of insight into the challenges being faced through gaps and issues in knowledge management related practices (such as accurate, relevant complete documentation, quality of knowledge transfers, effectiveness of feedback loops, prioritization for simplification and standardization).

Your assignment

The purpose of this project is to select one or two of the key challenges being faced, and carry out research to assess the financial impact they have on the organization, and the effect the challenges have on cycle time and availability of our machines. This is to build a strong business case for making improvements that can be supported with a clear financial and productivity/effectiveness measures.

Key deliverables include: A business case that shows the negative impact of the identified knowledge management challenges. This impact to be demonstrated in terms of cost impact (value lost in extra work/rework, time wasted) and potentially impact on cycle time/customer fab down time of our machines.
