At Tata Steel in IJmuiden, your expertise will drive critical, cross-functional programs that reshape our production processes and deliver strategic innovation. In this role, you will lead high-impact initiatives such as Tata Steel's sustainability project: the development of the 20-acre Direct Reduction Plant for producing green steel. From conceptualization to commissioning, you will be responsible for steering this project, which is key to Tata Steel's future.

As a project manager you will operate at a strategic and technically advanced level, engaging with key stakeholders such as the Tata Steel Board and Management Team. Your expertise in defining project visions, leading cross-functional teams, and ensuring alignment with organizational frameworks and governance structures will be pivotal in delivering transformative outcomes.

In this role, you will oversee a complex and expansive scope, encompassing engineering, execution, and operational readiness. You will take responsibility for translating objectives into actionable process requirements, ensuring rigorous process safety compliance, and developing robust business cases. Building and maintaining strategic networks with critical stakeholders will be central to driving project success.

With the Engineering, Construction, and Project Management (ECPM) model selected for project delivery, and an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) partner already engaged, you will lead collaboration efforts to advance basic engineering, compile permitting documentation, and lay the groundwork for efficient project build-up. Your overarching mandate will be to ensure seamless integration across all project phases while aligning activities with overarching strategic objectives.

• You will be overseeing interface management to ensure seamless coordination between internal and external stakeholders, including the OEM and other key partners.
• Strategizing procurement activities is key, including vendor selection and contract management, to support critical project needs.
• You will monitor project deliverables against predefined KPI's and milestones to uphold delivery quality and timeliness.

• Extensive experience supervising and directing teams and resources to achieve specific outcomes within defined timeframes.
• A Master’s degree or equivalent qualification.
• At least 15 years of relevant work experience as a project manager, project director, or program manager.

Your team:

As project manager, you lead a team of 30 to 50 specialists responsible for driving collaboration between Tata Steel’s stakeholders, the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), and the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (ECPM) partner. The team focuses on aligning strategic objectives from Tata Steel’s Board and Management Team with the execution of engineering, permitting, construction, and operational readiness activities.

Key roles include managing the OEM to advance basic engineering, integrate technical requirements, and prepare for permitting. The ECPM partner is overseen to ensure effective construction planning, resource allocation, and delivery within agreed timelines and budgets. Team members include project owners and senior advisors who maintain alignment with corporate strategy, planners and coordinators managing interface complexities, and safety and compliance experts ensuring adherence to process safety and regulatory standards.
